Coronation Street reveals new Jodie Ramsey mystery as David Platt’s suspicions rise in early ITVX release

Jodie Ramsey, played by Olivia Frances Brown, is a mysterious character. She’s been part of Coronation Street for over a month, but many questions about her past and motives remain unanswered.

The character was first introduced during a large crossover event involving the show Corriedale. He appeared after a multi-car accident on a stormy night in Connelton. A van got stuck in the resulting traffic jam, which was caused by the closure of the M62 motorway. The driver, who turned out to be Graham Foster from Emmerdale, was clearly annoyed.

He glanced backwards at a tied and bound woman in the back – it was Jodie.

After initially getting away, she was found observing Shona and David Platt at the hospital. It was revealed she’s Shona’s long-lost half-sister and has now settled into life in Weatherfield.

It’s still unclear why she was kept locked in the back of Graham’s van. Furthermore, while at a support group for those who’ve experienced domestic abuse, she copied and repeated another woman’s story word-for-word to Shona.

Earlier this week, Shona went to the hospital where her sister was being treated and unexpectedly found their father. He was very confused and seemed unwell, and although he didn’t say much, he repeatedly insisted that Jodie couldn’t be trusted.

What is she hiding?

After Shona drunkenly went to bed, Jodie and David went for a drink together. Jodie used the opportunity to spend some one-on-one time with him, suggesting they watch a movie to help her distract herself from everything that had been bothering her.

On today’s show, David told Shona, who wasn’t feeling well, that he thinks Jodie is a little strange and overly dependent. He was particularly put off by how much she wanted to hang out, and Shona suggested it might be because Jodie has trouble with abandonment.

I realized I needed to be a better friend going forward, but David was still hesitant. Later, I found out he’d talked to his brother, Nick, and told him something just didn’t feel right. It was clear he was troubled and holding back.

Later, I found Jodie revisiting her little trinket box. Inside, it wasn’t just sentimental items; there was a USB drive mixed in with her jewelry. My eye was particularly drawn to a gold locket – when she opened it, I saw it held photos of two young girls, a detail that immediately felt significant.

Okay, so the scene opens with Shona unexpectedly entering, and Jodie immediately panics, shoving a box – and a locket inside – under the sofa. It’s clear she’s trying to conceal something! Shona does eventually find the locket and presses Jodie for its origin, but surprisingly accepts the story that it was a recent charity shop find. It felt a little too easy, honestly, and left me wondering if Shona bought the explanation or was just letting it go for now. A clever bit of misdirection, perhaps?

Who are the girls, and what is Jodie hiding?
