Helen Flanagan would love to come back to Coronation Street, but the show’s producers haven’t contacted her about a return yet.
Helen Flanagan first joined Coronation Street as Rosie Webster in 2000, and her time on the show was filled with drama. She experienced several difficult situations, notably an affair with her teacher, John Stape (Graeme Hawley), who later kidnapped her.
She last appeared on the soap opera in 2018 when her character, Rosie, accepted a job in Japan. While she hasn’t returned since, she’s interested in coming back.
She said she’d be happy to return to the show if asked. “I’m just a short distance away,” she told the Daily Star, “but so far, no one has reached out.”
Flanagan shared in her interview that she’s eager to prioritize acting now that she’s spent five months performing on stage. She explained, “I want to keep developing my skills and opportunities as an actress.”

If she doesn’t get a role on Coronation Street, Flanagan said she’d be happy to join another soap opera, and she’s particularly interested in Waterloo Road.
She shared with the publication that she believes she’d fit right into the show Waterloo Road, potentially as a mother or a teacher – roles she feels would be a good match for her.
Flanagan has mentioned wanting to come back to Coronation Street before. She told The Sun last year that a return wasn’t out of the question.
She hinted at a potential return, saying, “It’s possible I might go back.” She added that her relationships with her colleagues were good and that any departure wouldn’t be due to personal issues – there are no hard feelings.
It completely transformed my life, and I’m incredibly loyal to the people who helped me. I feel a deep connection to Rosie, like she’s family. They rely on me, and Rosie needs me too.
Coronation Street airs weeknights at 8:30pm on ITV1 or can be streamed from 7am on ITVX.
