Catherine Tyldesley is set to film her exit scenes from The Good Ship Murder in the coming months.
The actress returned to her part on Coronation Street in October, signaling that her five-year run on the crime drama was nearing its conclusion.
I’ve been watching ‘Good Ship’ since 2023 and really enjoy seeing Gemma Tyldesley as Kate Woods! It’s great to see her working with Shayne Ward again, since they both used to be on ‘Coronation Street’. The latest series started in January and it’s been so gripping – it picks up after Jack got fired from the ship and he and Kate split up.
Catherine Tyldesley is returning to her role as Eva Price at the Rovers Return, but her work on the soap opera means she won’t be able to film the upcoming scenes set in Malta this spring, so her character will be temporarily written out of the storyline.

As a huge fan of both Coronation Street and the upcoming The Good Ship Murder, I was disappointed to learn that Tyldesley won’t be stepping away from her role on the cobbles to film the new project. It means we won’t be seeing her in The Good Ship Murder, which is a shame, but it’s clear her commitment remains with Corrie.
According to The Sun, there were doubts about whether she’d return, but her employers are thrilled she’ll be able to film a final scene for her character, Kate.

I’ve always loved seeing familiar faces pop up on Good Ship Murder! Over the years, they’ve had so many soap stars, like Claire Sweeney, and even Ross Adams from Hollyoaks. It’s fun spotting them!
Interestingly, Tyldesley almost didn’t appear in the show, as she had previously been asked to return as Eva but turned down those opportunities.
She told TopMob and other media outlets that the timing hadn’t been right until recently.

She explained that she genuinely meant it when she said she’d love to return, as playing with Eva is always a joy. She described the connection as a happy accident, something wonderful that just happened naturally.
I was over in Malta working on a film when my agent called and said Kate Brooks wanted to chat about Corrie. Honestly, I immediately thought someone had died and they needed me to make an appearance at the funeral! That’s always what those calls are about, you know?
I couldn’t believe my ears when Kate asked if I’d like to be the landlady! I actually screamed – I was completely stunned. It honestly feels like a dream come true.
Tyldesley explained he’d previously considered returning, but always contacted the producers to let them know it wasn’t feasible due to other commitments. He said it simply hadn’t worked out before because he was already busy with different projects.
Everything fell into place perfectly, both in my personal life and career. It felt like the right move, and I’m incredibly happy to be back.
Coronation Street airs weeknights at 8:30pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
