Catherine Tyldesley is returning to Coronation Street, and viewers are excited to find out what Eva will do when she’s back on the show.
She’s coming back with a new husband, his children, and a difficult mother-in-law, and will now be running the pub since Jenny Bradley has left.
Tyldesley explained that he was sincere when he said he’d like to return, as he really enjoys playing with Eva. He described the situation as a happy accident, or a fortunate coincidence.
I was filming in Malta when my agent told me Kate Brooks wanted to talk about *Coronation Street*. I immediately thought they needed me to appear for a character’s funeral.
Kate suddenly asked if I wanted to manage the property, and I was completely stunned – it’s always been my dream job!
You know, I’ve been approached about returning to the show before, but it just never quite lined up. I always reached out to the producers to explain I had other commitments. This time, though, everything felt right – both personally and professionally. The timing was perfect, and honestly, I’m really excited to be back!
She shared her happiness knowing that Eva had found love and fulfillment in her personal life with her husband, Ben (Aaron McCusker).
Tyldesley described them as very much in love and happy with their blended family. She admitted she initially expected the woman to be carrying a lot of emotional weight, but was pleasantly surprised to find that wasn’t true. While acknowledging the woman has had experiences in the past that might come up later, Tyldesley said she’s been enjoying herself immensely.
Tyldesley also welcomed Pauline McLynn to the cast as Maggie, the mother-in-law, predicting she’ll bring plenty of drama to the show.
Watching her work on set is amazing – she’s a true Coronation Street legend. The storylines between our characters are brilliantly funny, filled with playful teasing. There was a recent moment where my character, Eva, admitted that if things had been different and she’d met Maggie instead of Ben, they might have become friends. We actually have a lot in common.
