Maggie Driscoll (Pauline McLynn) is facing trouble in Coronation Street as someone from Jim McDonald’s army days has recognized her, bringing up secrets from her past.
Last month, TopMob announced that the iconic character, portrayed by Charles Lawson from 1989 to 2018, would die in a plotline with major consequences for his son, Steve (played by Simon Gregson).
We revealed that Jim’s death would deeply upset Maggie, especially when a secret from forty years ago surfaced. It turns out she had a brief relationship with Jim and became pregnant with their son, Ben (Aaron McCusker). Ben is unaware that his new friend, Steve, is actually his half-brother.
Today, Maggie was a little annoyed to find out Ben was going to the funeral to be there for his friend. He was getting closer to discovering the truth, and this was making Maggie very uneasy.
To make matters worse, Steve’s grandson, Ollie, began dating Steve’s daughter Amy, with no idea they were actually related.

After the funeral, everyone started heading back to the Rovers, and I noticed Maggie was really shaken up. It turns out there was a younger photo of Jim on the order of service, and it clearly hit her hard. She practically bolted to the back room, and luckily avoided bumping into Declan and Davey – two guys she said Jim used to work with way back in the eighties.
As the group shared memories of the person who had passed away, Maggie was surprised to hear Amy mention he had myotonic dystrophy. This immediately made Maggie concerned that Ben might have inherited the condition.

She reminded her son about his hospital appointment tomorrow before quickly going outside to the beer garden.
Declan walked after her and asked how long she’d been living in Manchester. She immediately denied ever having met him, but Declan quickly realized she was the woman Jim had an affair with back in Belfast.

Even though Maggie claimed nothing had happened, Declan knew she wasn’t telling the truth. He comforted her by promising he wouldn’t cause any trouble and would keep the secret.
But this is Weatherfield, and secrets don’t stay secret for very long!
How long will it be before the truth is outed?
