The show has been gradually dropping lower on the streaming rankings since its most recent season. Despite its previous fame, viewership numbers have been decreasing.
Over the last several days, the popular TV show “Criminal Minds” has experienced a significant drop in viewership. Its average rating, once strong at 5, has been steadily falling on the ratings scale and currently hovers around 6.6. This figure appears to be inching closer and closer to 7.
The sixteenth season of “Criminal Minds” commenced following a two-year break. Upon its return, it introduced a fresh title and an array of chilling narratives to delve into. The series welcomed back Joe Mantegna, A. J. Cook, Kirsten Vangsness, Aisha Tyler, Adam Rodriguez, and Paget Brewster reprising their famous roles as the team members from the FBI’s Behavioral Analysis Unit. Meanwhile, it also provided opportunities for newcomers to shine. The narrative started with a mystery revolving around proxy killer Elias Voit, played by Zack Gilford, whose character set the stage for an intricate and far-reaching conspiracy to unravel.
The spin-off series, “Criminal Minds: Evolution,” has significantly altered the broader franchise landscape with its fresh characters and departures of established ones, such as Josh Stewart’s character, Detective Will LaMontagne. In May, filming concluded on Stewart’s final episode in “Criminal Minds: Evolution.” As Brewster explained, “We were bidding farewell to Will, and we were bidding farewell to Josh Stewart, who’s portrayed Will for about 17 years. It’s always bittersweet, but it’s also exhilarating, even if it’s unfortunate news. We understand, as actors, that we, along with our crew and writers, can collaborate to create something special, even when it’s challenging. So, we’re just fortunate that our writers are putting in so much effort.
Criminal Minds: Evolution‘s Worst Villain Might Not Be Done
Although Criminal Minds: Evolution has largely moved past Voit’s campaign of terror, it doesn’t mean his tale is concluded. In June, Garcia hinted that Voit’s role in the series might be larger than fans anticipate. “Let’s just say that Voit is a cherished character much like Tony Soprano and Dexter,” Garcia stated. “[Tony Soprano and Dexter] were antiheroes we adored. Voit transformed from an antihero we adore into a potential key figure in discouraging other antiheroes, so he might be challenging to eliminate.
Criminal Minds: Evolution is currently available for streaming on Paramount+.
