Early looks at Crimson Desert are getting a lot of positive attention, with many calling it a potential standout open-world game for this generation. However, we haven’t seen gameplay on consoles yet.
PS5 owners are pointing to new videos on the official PlayStation Blog, showing short gameplay clips. However, it’s unclear whether the game footage is from the PS5 itself.
Many people are worried about how the new consoles will perform, mainly because we haven’t seen actual gameplay footage running on a console itself – only on powerful PCs.
The PlayStation Blog confirmed that Crimson Desert will use PSSR, Sony’s AI technology to improve graphics, on the PS5 Pro. According to a preview, this will allow the game to achieve 4K resolution with smoother frame rates.
It appears this game will be another title utilizing PSSR 2, an enhanced technology set to be fully released later this month, following the example of Resident Evil Requiem.

We haven’t received any technical details yet, so it’s unclear what graphics options the game will have, or what performance levels – like frame rates and resolutions – it’s aiming for.
I was reading the PlayStation Blog about Crimson Desert, and they briefly mentioned the regular PS5. Apparently, the developers at Pearl Abyss really worked on optimizing the game for the console. They used some clever techniques – something about Geometry Shader Oversubscription and NGG Culling – to make sure the game looks detailed even with tons of stuff happening on screen. It’s cool they’re putting in the effort to make it look great!
A Korean YouTube channel recently got a chance to play the game on a regular PlayStation 5, though they weren’t permitted to record any gameplay footage.
The game seemed to run at around 40 frames per second, offering a smooth experience, but without video proof, it’s hard to say for sure if that’s accurate.
Early looks at Crimson Desert have been very positive. Both gaming websites like IGN and content creators such as Skill Up are highly impressed with the game.
People are really impressed with the game’s huge, detailed world and how much you can interact with everything in it. Plus, the gameplay seems incredibly deep and full of possibilities.
However, some players are concerned the game might be too complex. It doesn’t offer much in the way of tutorials or guidance, and while that could be appealing to some, Crimson Desert actually has a huge number of intricate systems and mechanics to learn.
We’ve mentioned this before, but this new release is something you really need to experience firsthand before forming an opinion. Pearl Abyss seems to be creating something potentially amazing, but it might also be a complex game that takes time to understand.
