Pearl Abyss recently showed off a lot of new features for their upcoming open-world RPG, Crimson Desert, and there’s a lot to take in. The biggest news is that you won’t just play as Kliff; you’ll also be able to control two other characters as you explore the world of Pywel. If you noticed the characters standing next to Kliff in the promotional image, you were right to suspect they’d be playable!
You’ll unlock control of the second character by playing through the story. Once unlocked, you can switch between characters whenever you like. Each character has their own special missions, plus different ways of fighting – including unique skills and weapons. For example, one character is strong with a large sword, but can also use a pistol for fast, close-range attacks.
The second character wields an axe, capable of powerful ground attacks and spinning strikes. They’re also equipped with a wrist-mounted crossbow that fires flaming bolts, letting them line up shots in slow motion, much like in the movie John Wick.
Crimson Desert offers a lot of different ways to play, building on Kliff’s already impressive skills and arsenal. It launches on March 19th for Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and PC, and since this is just the beginning of the story, expect even more details to be shared soon. The game went gold earlier this month, meaning development is complete!
