Crimson Desert Studio Wants to Release a New Game Every 2 to 3 Years, Focusing on DokeV

Pearl Abyss recently announced that its main focus is now on developing DokeV. They are also continuing work on the MMO shooter PLAN 8. This shift comes after the team that was working on the open-world game Crimson Desert finished their part of the project. Pearl Abyss also plans to release a new game approximately every two to three years.

Pearl Abyss plans to keep supporting Crimson Desert with new updates after its release. They also hope to reach a wider audience by potentially bringing the game to more platforms.

The team behind Crimson Desert plans to keep improving the game with regular updates to make players happy and attract new ones. They’re also working on expanding to new platforms and exploring ideas like downloadable content to take the game even further. More specific details about these plans will be announced when they’re finalized.

We’re also working on two new games, DokeV and PLAN 8. We aim to release a new game every two to three years, so we’re focusing our efforts on DokeV to speed up its development. DokeV is currently in pre-production, and we’ll share more information as it progresses.

Pearl Abyss says that PLAN 8 is currently being planned and won’t begin full development until they’ve made more progress on DokeV.

This news follows an announcement from studio head Heo Jin-young that the developers who worked on Crimson Desert are now focusing on DokeV. He stated this shift will allow development to move faster, and he estimates the game will be finished and fully polished within two to three years.

DokeV was first shown in 2019 with a trailer promising a game packed with features, including monster collecting and a vast open world to explore. The game focuses on players finding unique creatures called Dokebi, whose power comes from dreams.

In 2022, Pearl Abyss aimed to release both DokeV and Crimson Desert within the year. The CEO stated that both games were on track according to their internal plans. However, the main development team was currently focused on Crimson Desert, and they would prioritize sharing more details about DokeV as development progressed.

Recently, the studio announced record-breaking quarterly revenue, largely thanks to the success of Crimson Desert. The game drove a 420% increase in revenue compared to the same period last year and a 382.4% jump from the previous quarter. The studio also reported that 94% of its revenue for the latest quarter came from international sales, with North America and Europe contributing 81%.
