The launch trailer and details about when players can pre-load and access Crimson Desert should be sufficient to build excitement for the game. But Pearl Abyss went a step further, adding a Steam FAQ with extra information, including confirmation of the upscaling technology the game will support.
PC gamers have several options for improving performance and visuals, including AMD’s FSR 3 and 4, and Nvidia’s DLSS 4 and 4.5. These technologies feature advanced techniques for ray tracing. On PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, FSR 3 is used, while the new PlayStation 5 Pro boasts an enhanced version of PSSR. Mac users also benefit from performance boosts with features like Denoiser, MetalFX Upscaler, and Frame Generation.
A day-one patch is planned, and you’ll need an internet connection to get the game set up, whether you buy a physical copy or download it. Once it’s installed, you can play Crimson Desert offline. However, Pearl Abyss plans to keep improving the game with future updates and patches, so staying connected will allow you to benefit from those improvements.
Unfortunately, you won’t be able to transfer your game progress between different platforms. The main story is just a part of a much larger game, so you’ll need to pick one platform and stick with it for your playthrough.
Crimson Desert launches on March 19th at 3 PM PDT for Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and PC. You can start downloading the game on March 17th. PC players will need 150 GB of storage space to install it. Find out more about system requirements and console details here.
