Crimson Desert Trailer Gets Up Close With The Cast and Their Acting Process

Pearl Abyss recently revealed the voice actors for key characters in Crimson Desert. Alec Newman will voice Kliff, Stewart Scudamore will play Oongka, and Rebecca Hansen will be Damiane. Along with this announcement, a new trailer offers a closer look at these characters and the actors’ performances.

I absolutely love Damiane! The way Hansen describes her – really grounded, a total fighter, and super headstrong – is so spot-on. He says she always stands up for what she believes in, no matter what anyone else says. It’s hilarious though, because the actress who plays her said she’s actually someone who usually avoids conflict! She said getting to play Damiane and embrace that strong, assertive side of herself was a really fun experience, and honestly, it shows!

Damiane reveals she’s fleeing from something and admits she never fully explained her reasons to Kliff, suggesting a hidden past. We’ll have to see what that backstory is. Meanwhile, Scudamore describes Oongka as someone who’s enthusiastic about all things, but surprisingly, he’s more thoughtful and philosophical than the typical, aggressive Orc.

He seemed experienced and like someone who had traveled widely, but he mostly communicated through simple grunts. Figuring out what those grunts meant was difficult, according to Scudamore.

Kliff is exactly as the trailers suggested: a quiet, steadfast character with a strong sense of right and wrong. While he initially seems reserved, Newman explained that interacting with other characters, especially his Greymanes, reveals a more open and approachable side to him.

He praised the game’s combat as incredibly impressive, saying he’d never experienced anything similar. With diverse character playstyles and a wide range of options – including magic, wrestling, hand-to-hand fighting, and ranged weapons – it’s easy to see why.

Crimson Desert will release on May 19th for Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and PC. While there’s still a lot to discover before the launch, marketing director Will Powers suggests patience for those eager for more details.
