Pearl Abyss recently shared more details about Crimson Desert, revealing players will be able to choose from three playable characters, not just Kliff. The update also showed just how much players will be able to do in the game’s world of Pywel. The main story revolves around uniting the Greymanes and restoring their homeland, but will also involve investigating the Abyss and those who seek to control its power.
Throughout the game world, you’ll find pieces of the Abyss. Studying these fragments will give you special items to improve your abilities. You’ll also journey into the Abyss – a collection of floating ruins – and use a versatile tool similar to the Ultrahand to help bring stability back to the land.
Pywel offers a lot to do, including conflicts between different factions. You can fight to free areas controlled by enemies, which will give you access to new shops, weapons, and supplies. But you’re also free to simply explore the world at your own speed. Discover hidden locations, hunt for treasure, raid enemy bases for better gear, or just pay attention to the environment to learn more about the world.
Watching someone fish, for example, can teach you how to fish yourself. Beyond learning skills, paying attention to the world around you can also reveal hints for quests. You can even try intimidating characters to get information from them, if you want.
Crimson Desert will be available on Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and PC starting March 19th. The developers at Pearl Abyss were right to claim that its world is larger than that of Red Dead Redemption 2.
