Though Hollow Knight: Silksong achieved a significant impact, selling more than three million copies on Steam within only three days, it appears that neighboring releases faced challenges, such as Bloober Team’s Cronos: The New Dawn. This sci-fi survival horror shooter managed to sell over 200,000 copies on its debut day (according to Bankier.pl).
In addition to traditional sales, the overall figure might be larger since this is purely digital. However, despite positive feedback, impressive marketing efforts, and the success of the Silent Hill 2 remake, the numbers appear a bit modest.
In other words, Piotr Babieno, CEO of Bloober Team, has clarified that the reported budget for their upcoming game, Silksong, is actually much lower than speculated, and the team’s break-even point is also less than what analysts suggest. Furthermore, regarding any worries about releasing Silksong at the same time as other projects, Babieno emphasized that it caters to a distinct audience compared to their other games.
As a dedicated gamer, I can confidently say that Cronos: The New Dawn stands out like no game currently available, making it unthinkable for us to delay its launch in any way, according to Babieno. And here’s the twist – even if this game turns out to be an unprecedented triumph, a sequel isn’t on the table, and Bloober Team is already immersed in other exciting projects. One of them happens to be the remake of Konami’s iconic Silent Hill 1.
Cronos: The New Dawn is available for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC. Check out our review.
