Fans were excited when an anime based on a popular FromSoftware game was announced in August 2025. After a long wait, a new trailer has finally dropped, giving a glimpse of what to expect. FromSoftware is a famous game studio known for its challenging games and complex stories. Among their acclaimed titles, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice is a standout, often considered a masterpiece of the ‘soulslike’ genre. Because Sekiro has a more straightforward story than many of FromSoftware’s other games, it’s a particularly good fit for an anime adaptation that can stay true to the original.
The first trailer for the Sekiro: No Defeat anime divided opinions, but a recent trailer has shown just how action-packed the adaptation will be. The anime beautifully recreates the game’s story with sharp animation and a classic art style that really brings the Sengoku period to life. This new trailer suggests that Studio Arch and Qzil.la are on track to deliver a successful adaptation, and early details about the plot hint at a compelling storyline.
Crunchyroll’s Sekiro Anime Adaptation Is Shaping Up to Be Promising and Faithful
Variety recently interviewed Kenichi Kutsuna, the director of the upcoming Sekiro anime. He talked about the series, including addressing concerns about the use of AI in its production – which he says have been resolved, with viewers recognizing the team’s hard work. Kutsuna also revealed how they’re handling the game’s multiple endings. Since adapting every ending would be challenging, the anime will focus on one of the three main story paths. While he didn’t give specifics, it’s clear the adaptation will have a streamlined narrative and won’t include the Iron Code ending.
The new trailer confirms the anime will likely cover the entire story fans know and love, showing the Corrupted Monk in a location only accessible by remaining loyal to Kuro. While the director plans some storytelling adjustments, they seem to be expanding on the game’s existing content, not changing it drastically. Overall, fans have a lot to look forward to – the trailer is visually stunning and includes memorable scenes from the game, and the director’s comments suggest a faithful adaptation. Now, all that’s left is for Crunchyroll to announce the release date, which is expected sometime this year.
