Crunchyroll’s Acclaimed Fantasy Confirms Final Release Ahead of Anime’s Return

Created by Kusanagi Mizuho, Yona of the Dawn is a highly popular anime and manga series. The main story of the manga finished in December 2025 after running for 16 years, and a short, four-chapter side story will be included in the final book. While the manga was already well-liked in Japan, the 2014 anime adaptation significantly boosted its popularity. Though not an immediate blockbuster, the anime steadily gained a large and dedicated fanbase. A sequel series was also announced, ten years after the first season aired, coinciding with the manga’s conclusion.

With fans eager for news about the anime’s comeback, the manga is celebrating the series with a special pop-up exhibition. The artist, Mizuho, shared a new illustration of Kija, the White Dragon Warrior, on her official X account to promote the event. She also cautioned fans that this exhibition will be different from past ones and will contain spoilers from Volume 47 of the manga, which features the story’s final arc. The exhibition is located in the Sannomiya district of Kobe, Japan, and will run until the 14th of this month.

What’s Next ForYona of the Dawn Franchise?

Currently, a second season of the anime has been announced, but no details like images or a release date have been revealed yet. The news appeared in the December 2025 issue of Hana to Yume magazine, alongside the final chapter of the main story. We can anticipate more information about the sequel once the side story finishes in the July 2026 issue. The first season ended with Yona successfully collecting all four Dragon Warriors as foretold in the prophecy.

I’m so excited for Season 2! Even though she’s safe now, she’s really trying to figure out what to do next, and Zeno keeps pushing her to think about her future. It’s great to see her friends have her back while she’s figuring things out. The season will follow her as she tries to revitalize the struggling Kouka Kingdom. They’re going to travel everywhere – all over the kingdom and even beyond – exposing the corruption and crime that flourished during her father’s rule. It sounds like a really compelling journey!

You can watch the anime on Crunchyroll. If you’re interested in the manga, 45 volumes are available to purchase digitally and physically from Viz Media. Volume 46 will be released in English on July 7th, and along with Volume 47, a special artbook was also released – though it’s currently only available in Japan. The series will conclude with Volume 48 on October 10th, but we don’t yet know when it will be available in English.
