A new movie is on the way for Crunchyroll’s most popular isekai anime series, and a trailer and poster have just been released! Isekai anime – stories about characters transported to another world – are incredibly popular right now, making up a large portion of new anime releases each year. Because there are so many isekai shows, it’s difficult for any one to become truly successful, so only the best ones manage to gain a large following and continue with multiple seasons.
The popular series That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime has expanded beyond the original anime with multiple seasons, special episodes, and a movie. A new film, That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime: Tears of the Azure Sea, is coming to Japanese theaters next February, and Crunchyroll will release it internationally soon after. Fans can now get a sneak peek with the newly released trailer and poster, which are available to view below.
What to Know for Reincarnated as a Slime’s New Movie
I’m so excited for That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime: Tears of the Blue Sea! It’s hitting Japanese theaters on February 27th, and thankfully, Crunchyroll and Sony Pictures are bringing it to the rest of the world too! We don’t have a date for outside of Japan just yet, but I can’t wait to find out! The best part is, a lot of the original voice actors are coming back, and they’re adding some awesome new talent – Saori Onishi will be voicing Yura, Koichi Domoto is taking on the role of Zodon, and Koji Yusa will be Djeese. These characters are all new to the story, which is super cool!
The new movie, That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime: Tears of the Blue Sea, will feature a story originally written for the light novels, with series author Fuse credited with the plot. A trailer has also been released revealing the theme song, “Utopia,” performed by TRUE. The movie’s story follows Rimuru and his friends as they are invited to a relaxing resort island by the elven ruler, Hermesia, after the opening of the Demon Kingdom. However, their vacation is interrupted by the arrival of a mysterious woman named Yura, leading to a new adventure set against the backdrop of a beautiful ocean.
Why Reincarnated as a Slime is a Big Deal
That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime has become a hugely popular anime in recent years because it offers something for everyone. The series focuses on building a brand-new world around the main character, Rimuru, as he creates a civilization, and he’s often more powerful than the enemies he faces.
Adding to the excitement, a fourth season of the That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime anime series has been confirmed after the new movie’s release. While we don’t know exactly when the new episodes will come out, we can probably expect more news about the season in 2026, following the movie’s launch.
