I’ve been watching this sports anime that’s become incredibly popular on Crunchyroll since it first came out, and now they’ve announced both a second season *and* a live-action movie! What’s really interesting about sports anime is the mix of exciting action and the strong team spirit you usually see. But this one is different – it’s really taken off by focusing on each player’s individual drive to be the very best in Japan, rather than emphasizing teamwork.
Since its anime release a few years ago, *Blue Lock*, created by Muneyuki Kaneshiro and Yusuke Nomura, has become incredibly popular, quickly followed by a second season and a movie. At a recent event in Japan called “BLUELOCK EGOIST FESTA 2025,” it was announced that the *Blue Lock* universe will continue to expand with both a third anime season and a new live-action film currently in development.
Blue Lock Season 3 Reveals First Details

As of today, there’s no confirmed release date for *Blue Lock* Season 3, but it *is* happening and will continue the story from where Season 2 left off. The new season will adapt the Neo Egoist League Arc from the manga, pitting the *Blue Lock* players against international rivals. Series writer Muneyuki Kaneshiro excitedly announced the confirmation, saying Season 3 is a fresh start for both the characters and the production team, promising a passionate and intense creation process. He playfully urged fans to eagerly await its arrival.
Illustrator Yusuke Nomura recently announced a new anime season is in the works! Fans can look forward to seeing the Neo Egoist League come to life, featuring even more competitive international players than the Blue Lock team. And that’s not all – details for a new live-action *Blue Lock* movie have also been revealed.
Blue Lock Live-Action Movie Coming in 2026

A live-action movie adaptation of *Blue Lock* is planned for release in Japan during the summer of 2026, timed to coincide with the World Cup. The studio CREDEUS, known for its live-action versions of *Kingdom* and *Golden Kamuy*, is producing the film. While details about the cast and crew haven’t been announced yet, Toho will distribute the movie across Japan next summer. There’s also no news currently about whether it will be released internationally.
With a new season and live-action movie on the way, now is the perfect time to get up to speed with *Blue Lock*. You can currently stream the first two seasons and the *Episode Nagi* movie exclusively on Crunchyroll. Dive into this exciting soccer series and discover what all the hype is about!
