Yet, amidst the excitement, a lesser-known anime titled “Takopi’s Original Sin” is subtly gaining attention. Adapted from manga by Taizan 5, this dark series revolves around elementary school children and explores heavy themes such as bullying, depression, and violence. Overwhelmed by this revelation, Shizuka begs for his help, which Azuma grants, driven by his affection for her. Azuma and Shizuka propose an idea to Takopi: he should step in for Marina to hide what happened, an offer he accepts immediately, as his sole desire is to bring joy to Shizuka. Although the act of concealing a murder is shocking, it becomes even more unsettling when young characters are involved in such a crime. Thankfully, the series has previously developed each character’s background, allowing us to see a discernible pattern among them.

Each of the trio, Shizuka, Marina, and Azuma, have been significantly influenced by their tumultuous family backgrounds. Whilst Shizuka and Marina’s parents have been largely absent or engrossed in their personal troubles, the latest installment reveals that Azuma’s mother is overly demanding, pushing him to achieve perfection, insisting on top grades, and dismissing his near-perfect scores. These unacknowledged emotional weights could be the driving factors behind their troubling behaviors. The captivating series Takopi’s Original Sin continues to shine a light on human emotions’ complexities, and with three additional episodes remaining, it shows no signs of losing momentum.
