With March here, anime fans are looking forward to the new shows coming out in Spring 2026, following a great winter season. The winter season brought back popular series like Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3 and Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End Season 2, and also introduced new ones, such as In the Clear Moonlit Dusk, which you can watch on Crunchyroll. As the leading streaming service for anime, Crunchyroll has a huge library of series and films and adds many new titles every season.
I’m so excited about the upcoming live-action film adaptation of In the Clear Moonlit Dusk! It’s based on the incredibly popular shōjo manga by Mika Yamamori, which has been running since 2020 – I’ve been following it for ages! They just dropped the first teaser on March 9th, 2026, giving us a sneak peek at the movie, and it looks amazing! We’ll finally get to see it in Fall 2026, and I can’t wait!
In the Clear Moonlit Dusk Unveils Release Date With The First Look
The movie is scheduled to come out in Japan on October 23, 2026, and it’s currently unknown if it will be released internationally. Kentarō Takemura, a director known for Japanese dramas and films like Trillion Game and Our Secret Diary, is directing the live-action adaptation. Shunsuke Michieda and Seira Anzai play the lead roles of Kohaku Ichimura and Yoi Takiguchi.
The short teaser video introduces the main characters and shows how they first meet, hinting at the story to come. While we haven’t met the supporting characters yet, more details are expected before the movie comes out.
What Is The Plot of In the Clear Moonlit Dusk?

Yoi Takiguchi is a high school girl who’s incredibly popular with other girls. She’s known for her striking, gender-neutral looks and is often called ‘the prince’ because of her good looks, tall stature, deep voice, and laid-back personality. People often turn to her for help, as she’s both strong and kind. Despite receiving gifts from her many admirers, she doesn’t seem to care much about her popularity.
Yoi just wants to be a normal girl and escape the expectations that come with being a prince. But her life changes when she meets Kohaku Ichimura, another popular student who mistakenly thinks she’s a boy and compliments her appearance. Annoyed by his careless comment, Yoi initially wants to avoid Kohaku, who often acts without thinking.
When Yoi and Kohaku meet during a fight at a convenience store, Kohaku sincerely compliments her and starts treating her like she always dreamed. Despite Yoi’s attempts to stay composed, she can’t help but develop feelings for him. The anime series began airing in January 2026 and currently has nine episodes available. The first season will have a total of twelve episodes, and the manga, which is still being published, currently has ten volumes.
