Update #4 [Sat 6th Dec 2025, 5:30am]:
Are we already on Update #4 for this article? Blimey!
Regardless of what’s happening, Geoff Keighley seems to be getting the attention he wanted. The official Game Awards account has responded to his initial post on X (formerly Twitter) with a puzzle.
Okay, so I just saw this cryptic message, and part of it is hidden, but what I can read is seriously unsettling. It says, “The [blank] are silent. [Blank] bleeds. New [blank] stir.” It’s like something bad is happening, and whatever these ‘blanks’ represent, they’re connected to it. It’s giving me chills!
Overnight, some people started guessing this might be related to the game Lords of the Fallen 2, but it seems unlikely that game has a large enough budget for whatever this is.
The speculation goes on.
Okay, so everyone’s losing it over this statue that appeared in California. Seriously, the internet is buzzing! It’s gotta be some kind of hint for what’s coming at The Game Awards later this month, right? I’m trying not to get too hyped, but it’s hard!
After clarifying the statue isn’t connected to Diablo 4, Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier has now stated it’s also unrelated to another game.
In another post on ResetEra, he says the statue is not related to The Elder Scrolls 6.
Let me say this one last time: the statue has nothing to do with the announcement of Elder Scrolls 6. I’m not going to discuss this anymore. I might answer if someone asks politely at the JW bar next week, but it depends on how much I’ve had to drink.
It’s been a long time since The Elder Scrolls 6 was first announced, and fans have been wondering if a recently revealed statue had something to do with the game’s setting in Tamriel. However, it appears that’s not the connection.
Also, it turns out the statue isn’t related to the game God of War, according to Cory Barlog from Santa Monica Studio.
Update #2 [Mon 1st Dec 2025, 6:45pm]: The plot thickens.
Over the weekend, Geoff Keighley shared a picture of a mysterious statue and its location, leading many to believe it hints at a Diablo 4 reveal at this month’s The Game Awards.
However, Jason Schreier, a very well-connected journalist, has said that’s not the case.
In a ResetEra post, journalist Jason Schreier discussed a recent teaser from Geoff Keighley, responding to a suggestion from Windows Central’s Jez Corden that it might be related to Diablo 4.
Honestly, I have no clue what Jez is talking about! This statue definitely isn’t hinting at a Diablo 4 expansion. I’m not going to say what it is right now, sorry to keep you guessing, but trust me, it’s pretty cool!
It looks like he understands the situation, but he’s choosing not to say it directly.
According to him, it looks like we’re starting over, and no one currently knows what this statue actually represents.
Although people are speculating about which established game series this might be connected to, it’s equally possible that we’ll see a completely original game revealed at The Game Awards.
The mystery will be solved when the show airs later this month, at any rate.
Update #1 [Mon 1st Dec 2025, 5am]:
Remember the location in Los Angeles that Geoff Keighley teased?
Someone visited the site and discovered a structure decorated with images of snakes and demons, and it’s illuminated at night.
Okay, so it looks like Blizzard is about to announce something big for Diablo 4! People have been digging around and noticed the demons on a statue look exactly like the ones from the game. It’s pretty cool how fans figured that out – definitely getting hyped for whatever’s coming!
We’re likely to see an announcement and reveal trailer for an expansion sometime this month during The Game Awards, and it will probably be a visually impressive CGI trailer.
Original Story: Just what the heck is Geoff Keighley teasing?
Okay, so Geoff Keighley just dropped this cryptic message on X (formerly Twitter), and the gaming community is totally losing it trying to figure out what it means. Everyone’s dissecting every word, trying to predict what he’s hinting at! It’s wild.
Here’s what Keighley has posted:
I was messing around online and found this really cool phrase. When you type it into what3words – that site that turns any location into three random words – it actually takes you to a spot out in the Mojave Desert in California! It’s pretty neat.
It’s close to a place called Joshua Tree, between Los Angeles and Las Vegas.
Okay, so I’ve been seeing everyone lose their minds over this new image, and honestly, we’re all convinced it’s a hint about a game reveal at The Game Awards next year. There are tons of theories flying around, and it’s super exciting!
So, everyone’s really hoping the next big game will be one of a few titles: God of War, Diablo, The Elder Scrolls 6, or maybe even a remastered version of Fallout: New Vegas. Those are the ones generating the most buzz right now.
The existence of a road called Yucca Mesa Road has led some to speculate it might be connected to the long-awaited announcement of Half-Life 3.
Also coming up in conversation is the new Tomb Raider game and Santa Monica Studio’s new IP.
Whatever the case, this is almost certainly a teaser of some kind.
The Game Awards are happening in just a few weeks, and around now we usually start getting hints about who will be there.
