Nippon Ichi Software and guruguru have revealed a new trailer, details, and screenshots for their dungeon-crawling RPG, Curse Warrior. A demo for the game is also available now in Japan on all platforms, as previously announced.
First, here’s the trailer:
Here are the details:
■ The Reality of Character Loss
When your teammates fall in battle, they aren’t simply knocked unconscious – they’re permanently removed from the fight. Once a teammate is lost, they can’t be brought back, revived, or resurrected in any way.
Even allies you have spent a long time training can be lost with a single bad decision.
These are not unavoidable “accidents”—they are the results of your decisions.
Each choice you make while exploring a dungeon could put your companions in danger. Because dungeons are created randomly, every one is unique and presents a different level of challenge. You’ll always be facing potential threats.
—Allies killed by attacks are “lost” and will never return.

■ Irrational “Curses”
Curses that infest the dungeon will mercilessly bare their fangs at the player.
Your actions may be restricted. Your abilities may be stripped away. Your allies may be weakened.
The full effects of a curse are only understood once you experience it firsthand.
To survive, you must accept the curses’ irrationality and make use of them.
Okay, so curses aren’t always bad. I’ve found some actually help me out – like healing me, boosting my damage, or even letting me deflect attacks with a perfect parry. Honestly, staying alive in this game really comes down to how well I can manage and use those curses to my advantage.
—Curses with harmful effects can slowly drive adventurers to their deaths.

■ Strategy: “Who to Sacrifice?”
Jobs, party composition, items… players have a wide range of choices.
In the game Curse Warrior, winning requires careful planning and sometimes, difficult choices about who to protect and who to leave behind. You’ll need to decide which characters should lead the charge and which ones are best kept safe.
Often, there isn’t one single best option. Every position has both advantages and disadvantages, so deciding where to put people is a key part of strategy.
—Clerics and Paladins, with high HP and durability, can take monster attacks from the front line.

■ Items
You can buy items at the shop before going into a dungeon. When you first start, you won’t have much money, so it’s important to carefully choose what to buy to help you survive.
—Provisions can be brought without spending funds, so make sure to bring them.

■ Demo Now Available

—All you carry over is knowledge.
A demo that lets players experience the irrationality and tension of Curse Warrior is now available.
All allies you train, equipment you acquire, and levels you gain will be lost.
You’ll only take your understanding of consequences—how actions lead to failure, what you might lose, and how to stay alive—into the complete game.
And that knowledge is the most valuable resource you can have..
■ Few Clues Exist in This Irrational World
If you don’t come prepared, you’ll likely fail. Only those with a true understanding of the situation will make it through.
Curse Warrior features systems that serve as the “keys to survival.”
■ The Role of Jobs
This character excels at defending against attacks, works well with curse-based abilities, and focuses on supporting the team to keep everyone alive.
Every role in a team has its own advantages and disadvantages – no one person can do everything well. Knowing who takes the lead, who needs support, and who might be vulnerable is crucial for success. Recognizing these dynamics can make the difference between thriving and failing.
The game features eight different adventurer classes, and each one excels at different types of attacks, has varying resistance to curses, and works best in specific spots within a party. Each adventurer also has two unique skills. When building your team, remember these strengths and weaknesses.
The Wolf Moon Tavern lets you recruit adventurers with different skills based on their profession.
To successfully explore a dungeon, it’s helpful to hire skilled adventurers. New adventurers will regularly become available at the tavern, offering their services.
—Each adventurer has different abilities and skills. New adventurers visit the tavern over time.
■ Purification Facility: Rainbow Eyes
Rainbow Eyes is a purification facility that purifies curses.
By purifying curses, you can remove unfavorable curses while keeping beneficial ones.
Upgrading the facility increases the number of adventurers and curses that can be purified at once.
—Curses that disadvantage adventurers can be removed through purification.

■ Exploration Items: “Lifelines”
While exploring caves, exploration items such as potions, antidotes, and hammers are essential.
Use them, or save them?
That single decision could determine who survives and who is lost.
Dungeons offer a variety of items.
Some of these items strengthen adventurers when equipped.
Finding and equipping these items is essential to making adventurers stronger.
—Equipment can also be obtained as quest rewards or after battles.

■ Curse Fusion
Curses can work together, and when combined, they sometimes become much more powerful. This process is known as Curse Fusion.
When you combine two or three curses, you create a stronger, more effective curse with a higher chance of taking effect.
Characters can be affected by up to six curses at once. Since some curses have two effects, a character could experience up to twelve different negative outcomes. These effects happen randomly, causing a character’s abilities to change unpredictably.
Using curses can lead to permanent and unchangeable results. It’s a risk only worth taking for those who fully understand what they’re doing, accept the potential consequences, and are ready to take control of the power involved.
—Two curses can combine to form a new, higher-level curse.

Curse Warrior is due out for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and Switch on March 26 in Japan.
