Even though Cyberpunk 2077 is much improved now, particularly with Update 2.0 and the Phantom Liberty expansion, many players still want features like New Game+. A third-person camera option is also highly requested, but it’s uncertain if these will be included in the next game, currently known as Project Orion or Cyberpunk 2.
So, I was checking out some old pics from when we were making Phantom Liberty, and our creative director, Igor Sarzyński, was talking about cutscenes on Bluesky. He admitted it would be awesome to set them up – the game really looks incredible – but he actually prefers how the game is now, with that seamless, uninterrupted experience. He values keeping you totally immersed over adding a bunch of cutscenes, and honestly, I get that. It’s a great feeling to just be in the world without being pulled out of it.
The strong sense of immersion in Cyberpunk 2077 comes from the game being played almost entirely from the first-person perspective, letting players experience Night City directly through their character, V. Third-person views are uncommon, appearing only briefly in cutscenes. While the game director hasn’t ruled out a third-person option for Cyberpunk 2, it doesn’t seem likely to happen.
To further prove he’s considering player feedback alongside the game’s cinematic sequences, he replied to someone who said the current style might alienate fans of third-person games. He responded by saying, “Trying to appeal to everyone means appealing to no one. It’s fine if our creative choices aren’t for you!”
In 2023, the director of the upcoming game, Paweł Sasko, wasn’t sure if it would be played from a first-person perspective. However, a job posting in 2025 suggested it would be. Now that development is underway and the team is growing, it looks like players can expect another deeply immersive experience, likely with occasional views of their character.
Found some old photos I took while working on Phantom Liberty! Setting up cutscenes was really enjoyable because the game looks incredible. But ultimately, we decided keeping players fully immersed was more important.

when something is for everyone then it’s for no one. it’s ok to not vibe with our choices!
