Sony is expanding support for its upgraded PSSR technology to more PS5 Pro games, with several major titles adding it in the coming weeks. Crimson Desert, launching March 19th, and Assassin’s Creed Shadows, already available, are among them. But perhaps the most notable addition is Cyberpunk 2077.
CD Projekt RED previously stated in November 2024, and again with update 2.2, that they wouldn’t support the PS5 Pro. It’s surprising to see them change direction now, and it’s still unclear how they’ll actually use the new console’s capabilities.
Developers have been impressed with Upgraded PSSR, noting that it delivers noticeably better and more consistent image quality. For games like Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth and Silent Hill f, it’s greatly reduced distracting flickering. Ninja Theory specifically highlighted how it made the visual effects – particularly particles – look better in Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2.
With a potential PS5 Pro version possibly coming, many players are also hoping to see New Game Plus added to the game. Could this mean CD Projekt RED is finally listening to fan requests? We’ll be keeping an eye out for any announcements, so stay tuned for more information.
