Looking back at the launch of Cyberpunk 2077 and comparing it to the game today is pretty incredible.
After five years of improvements and a major expansion, the open-world RPG has become a huge commercial hit. Developer CD Projekt Red recently announced that the game has sold over 35 million copies.
That’s an amazing accomplishment for any game, but it really highlights how Cyberpunk has managed to improve over time.
The game is nearing its five-year anniversary, having originally released on PlayStation 4 on December 10th, 2020. We wouldn’t be surprised if CD Projekt Red (CDPR) had something special planned to celebrate.
What about the next Cyberpunk game, currently called Cyberpunk 2 (formerly Project Orion)? Development is progressing well, and the team has grown from 116 people in July to 135 as of October 31st.
Currently, CD Projekt Red has 447 employees developing The Witcher 4, and they plan to release it well before their next Cyberpunk game.
Who would have predicted Cyberpunk 2077 would become so popular? What are you hoping to see in the next game? Share your thoughts and ideas in the comments!
