CD Projekt RED and TRIGGER Studio have unveiled “Cyberpunk: Edgerunners Sequel,” an independent anime series that takes place within the universe of “Cyberpunk 2077.
The sequel, titled Cyberpunk: Edgerunners II, continues the storyline from where Cyberpunk: Edgerunners ended, having been broadcasted over 10 episodes in 2022 and receiving widespread praise from critics.
The sequel series’ staff includes:
- Director: Kai Ikarashi (Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, SSSS.Gridman) – directorial debut
- Showrunner / Story Writer / Producer: Bartosz Sztybor
- Lead Character Designer: Kanno Ichigo (Promare, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners)
- Screenplay Adaptation: Masahiko Otsuka (Gurren Lagann, Promare)
At Anime Expo 2025, Bartosz Sztybor, the showrunner, story writer, and producer of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners II, hinted that while David’s tale may have concluded, there are still many secrets to uncover within Night City. He added that having TRIGGER animation studio on board for this adventure has CD Projekt RED thrilled to present a gritty, genuine narrative of redemption and retribution – something fresh and distinct from their previous works.
As a dedicated fan, I was privileged to attend an exclusive event today titled “Cyberpunk: Edgerunners – Peeking Behind the Curtain with Its Creators.” During this insightful session, the exciting announcement of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners II was made! Later in the evening, I was granted access to a private screening of tantalizing new teaser footage during studio TRIGGER’s panel.
