Dale Earnhardt Jr.’s Wife Says Jessica Simpson Tried to “Fish” Her Man

Amy Earnhardt made sure Jessica Simpson knew the boy was hers.

Dale Earnhardt Jr.’s wife said that singer Jessica Simpson seemed interested in him when they first started dating. She remembered a near encounter with Simpson from the late 2000s, suggesting Simpson was pursuing the then-racing driver.

On a recent episode of their podcast, Bless Your ‘Hardt, Amy recalled a story from around 2008 or 2009. She and Dale had just started dating, and she was likely still living in Jacksonville at the time. She traveled to Daytona to spend time with Dale when she heard that Jessica Simpson was at the racetrack.

The woman, 43, shared that she’d long admired Jessica, as they grew up around the same time and both came from Texas.

Amy asked Dale if he could arrange a meeting with Jessica Simpson at the bus. Dale responded that he didn’t think it was a good idea.

Okay, so when I asked why things couldn’t be different, they showed me this video. It was from an interview with Jessica earlier, and she was talking about a dream she had! A dream where she and Dale were getting married… in a treehouse! I swear, it was like the universe was trying to tell me something. It was so cute and… everything. I just knew then that they were meant to be, and it completely broke my heart, but also, it was kind of… beautiful? I’ve rewatched that clip like a million times.

“I’m like, ‘Yeah, don’t bring that b—h over here,’” Amy joked. “‘It’s a good idea.’”

She remains hesitant about the fashion designer, especially considering their past connection to Tony Romo from 2008 to 2009.

Let me tell you, I completely stopped supporting Jessica Simpson’s brand – shoes, bags, everything – after I found out she was, well, making a move on someone I was with. It was clear what she was doing, and honestly, it felt like a deliberate attempt to get with him. I just couldn’t get past it, and decided my money would go elsewhere.

Amy told her husband, ‘I heard you wanted to build a treehouse, and my friend said she had a dream about us being meant for each other.’

Dale chuckled at his wife’s recollection and wondered if Jessica even remembered what she’d said, remarking, “I doubt she’d agree with that.”

TopMob News has reached out to Jessica’s rep for comment but has not heard back.

Jessica later married Eric Johnson in 2014, and they have three children together, but they divorced in 2025. Meanwhile, Dale and Amy got married in 2016 and are parents to daughters Isla, age 7, and Nicole, age 5.

And as Dale has shared, he loves getting to be an active dad and share his life with Amy.
