Dandadan Voice Actor Reveals She Never Did Any Battle Scenes Before

In my viewpoint, Shion Wakayama is a celebrated voice actress who has lent her voice to memorable characters such as Kasai Seira in “My Dress-Up Darling” and Shizuka Nanahoshi in “Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation.” Yet, this time around, she’s stepping into uncharted territory by dubbing action scenes as a main character in an anime. As reported by Mantan Web, she openly admitted that during the initial season, she was often overwhelmed, and despite her best efforts to prepare for each recording, there were instances when she felt underprepared. She went on to say, “Initially, the continuous engagement in intense battles was a new experience for me as I hadn’t performed many battle scenes before. Dandadan helped me immensely in enhancing my capacity to shout loudly and project my voice effectively. Now, I can think of different ways to portray battles, and I feel well-prepared after the training I received. I am truly thankful for this opportunity.

One aspect that stands out about the anime is its rapid tempo, which keeps viewers engrossed. However, this swift pace can be difficult for voice actors to handle, as Wakayama explained, “In Dandadan, there are numerous scenes where the action moves quickly. During recording sessions, it’s not unusual for the script to leap two pages ahead in the blink of an eye. If you miss it, there’s no going back.

Later on, she commented, “That experience helped me understand how swiftly battles can pass. I believe I’ve managed to adapt myself to match the pace of rapid dialogue.
