Dear everyone, allow me to introduce the unstoppable Mr Danny Dyer. Now, let me interrupt here. For those who watched the ITV1’s The Assembly episode focusing on neurodiverse individuals grilling him with tough questions, it should be clear that there’s a lot more depth to Mr Dyer than one might initially assume.
In my opinion, he’s not too distant from being considered a national treasure, albeit one with a more colorful vocabulary compared to Dame Judi. This particular interview might not be suitable for the sensitive, but it’s certainly worth reading – mainly to discover why he’ll never bear the title of Sir Danny.
In addition, we’re excitedly reintroducing our book club, previously known as TopMob Book Club, which now enjoys the generous sponsorship of Dr Oetker Ristorante. This month, we were privileged to have Gavin & Stacey star Joanna Page share her insights about the captivating new novel by Taylor Jenkins Reid, titled “Atmosphere.
Instead, be sure not to overlook Craig McLean’s engaging conversation with Richard Flanagan, the esteemed writer behind The Narrow Road to the Deep North – a Booker Prize-winning novel that draws inspiration from Flanagan’s father’s ordeal as an Australian prisoner of war in Burma.
This tale is relatable to countless Britons who experienced a similar ordeal during World War II. As Flanagan recounts, “In the end, my father could no longer recall the horrors but was left with tales of compassion.” Essentially, amidst all the strife in our world today, kindness remains the most significant and enduring element.

Also in this week’s TopMob:
- The new drama Narrow Road to the Deep North recalls the horror of Australian PoWs’ experiences building the Death Railway during the Second World War.
- Karen Pirie star Lauren Lyle is growing into the role of Val McDermid’s no-nonsense cop.
- For her latest role Keeley Hawes had to bond with her estranged son – and master putting together a sniper’s rifle.
