I’m so excited about this! Danny and Dani Dyer – you probably know Danny from his acting and Dani from being on reality TV – are trying to help bring back classic British holidays. They’re taking on a huge project: fixing up a caravan park in Leysdown-on-Sea, Kent. It’s awesome to see them putting effort into something like this!
I heard you weren’t immediately on board with the show, Danny. What made you decide to get involved?
To be honest, I just didn’t have the energy or desire to do it. Running a caravan park didn’t fit into my life, especially since I’m an actor. It’s a totally different experience being filmed constantly with cameras waiting for you to mess up, and I wasn’t sure I’d be comfortable with that. That’s why I needed Dani’s help.
What do caravan holidays mean to both of you?
Those holidays mean the world to me, though Dani doesn’t feel quite the same way. She was there with us years ago, but for me, every year was all about going to Canvey Island, specifically Thorney Bay Beach Camp in Essex. It was a really classic working-class holiday – my nan and grandad had a caravan, and the whole family would go! All my aunts, uncles, and cousins would be there, and just being together and hanging out was the absolute highlight of my year.
You know, as a movie fan, I’ve noticed how some things just really divide people, and caravans are totally one of those things. It’s funny, because it seems like people either absolutely love them – like a big family holiday tradition with your mum, aunt, and grandma – or they can’t stand the idea. It’s that ‘love it or hate it’ thing, kind of like Marmite – you either get it, or you don’t!
The show has been very popular with Sky viewers, and another season is on its way. Will it help boost the popularity of caravan parks and British staycations?

Have you always been close, or has that changed over the years?
Dani says she and her sister rarely argue. If they do disagree, it’s usually about something important, like a boyfriend. She thinks that’s the only thing they’ve ever really fought over.
I honestly can’t imagine ever disagreeing with her, or with any of my children, for that matter. I’d always support them no matter what.
Filming this series, did you learn anything new about each other that genuinely surprised you?
Danny said they handled stress effectively as a team. Whenever one of them was struggling, the other would offer support and encouragement. Fortunately, they never both faced difficulties at the same time.
Dani: We’d have a little moan in the car sometimes.
How similar are you as people?
It’s funny, we share the same name – Danny Dyer. Though, you’re now Dani Dyer-Bowen, since you married West Ham footballer Jarrod Bowen.
Dani: I’ve kept the Dani Dyer because it just makes more sense, that’s how people know me.
Danny: I want to change my name to Danny Bowen but apparently, it’s a bit weird.
What’s something you admire about each other that you don’t say out loud enough?
Danny: Well, I think our relationship is that we do say it out loud, and that’s what’s important.
Dani says he really appreciates how kind and thoughtful the person is. He feels loved by them and always feels better after they talk, especially when he’s feeling down.

Over the course of your careers, what’s one thing that you’ve taught each other?
When you become a public figure, it’s important to avoid reading comments and scrolling through online reactions. It’s something I’ve learned to handle with experience, being able to just accept criticism now.
When I started working in this field, he was already established. He really emphasized the importance of surrounding yourself with the right people – a strong support network. We all rely on each other when we’re facing challenges, right?
Speaking of which, was there anything that truly worried you while filming this series?
Danny, I heard you didn’t take to the bingo calling very well?
Dani: You didn’t like bingo, did you? I love a bingo night.
Danny said it was surprisingly more stressful calling out bingo numbers than performing in a play for twelve weeks in London’s West End. He admitted to being much more nervous about the bingo than he ever was on stage.
