The new series, Daredevil: Born Again, successfully recaptures the magic of the original Daredevil show that debuted on Netflix in 2015. That initial series, starring Charlie Cox as Daredevil and Vincent D’Onofrio as Kingpin, was groundbreaking for Marvel, focusing on gritty, street-level heroes. It was exciting to see Cox and D’Onofrio reprise their roles in the Disney+ MCU, and it looks like even more characters from that series will be joining them soon.
As a fan, I was so excited to see the characters from the old Netflix shows make their way to Disney+! But what really got me hyped was that the new series kept one of the best parts of Daredevil – those incredible, long-take fight scenes. We saw it again in the third episode of Season 2, “The Scales & the Sword.” It was amazing watching Daredevil single-handedly free all the prisoners and get them to safety, away from Wilson Fisk’s team. It felt like a direct nod to the Netflix series and it was brilliantly done!
Breaking Down Each Daredevil One-Shot Action Scene

The scene began with Daredevil infiltrating the hidden prison used by Wilson Fisk’s Task Force to detain anyone they considered a threat – from vigilantes to ordinary citizens like Camilla’s mother, Soledad. He quickly subdued several Task Force members before bursting into the holding area and releasing the prisoners. After arming Swordsman, the two fought their way through the remaining guards, successfully evacuating everyone to safety. The entire sequence was a remarkably well-executed fight scene.
I still remember being blown away by that hallway fight in the first season of Daredevil. It was in the episode “Cut Man,” and honestly, it’s one of the best scenes the show has ever done. Daredevil is up against a bunch of Russian mobsters who’ve ambushed him, and the way he uses everything around him to take them down is incredible – easily the most brilliantly choreographed fight I’ve seen in anything Marvel’s put out. That scene really cemented Daredevil as a force to be reckoned with, someone who could realistically win any fight, no matter how outnumbered he is.
I was absolutely captivated by Daredevil’s second season, especially the brutal fight where Punisher had him completely restrained – a gun taped to one hand! It was amazing to watch him still manage to take down that biker gang with just a chain in his other hand. But honestly, the third season really blew me away. That single-take prison escape scene was just phenomenal – easily the most intense moment in the whole show. Matt was in serious danger the entire time as he fought his way out, and the choreography was incredible. It was right up there with the hallway fight from the first season as the best action sequence in the series.
I was really pleased to see the MCU maintain Daredevil’s grounded fighting style, especially after that quick appearance in She-Hulk. Then, Daredevil: Born Again Season 1 finally gave us a proper fight showcase! However, the season wasn’t perfect. The fight between Daredevil and Bullseye, after Bullseye shot Foggy, almost reached those classic Daredevil heights, but some noticeable CGI on the rooftop really pulled me out of the moment and lessened the impact of the choreography. Thankfully, the showrunners clearly listened to feedback, because Season 2 delivered a truly masterful breakout fight scene – exactly what Daredevil fans have been waiting for!
