Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 Introduces a Brand New Matt Murdock

Viewers have been enjoying Charlie Cox as Daredevil and Vincent D’Onofrio as Kingpin since their appearances in the original Netflix series. Now, the Disney+ series Born Again will show us new sides of these characters. The second season begins a few months after the first, and focuses on Matt Murdock and Karen Page as they fight to protect New York City from Kingpin’s increasingly controlling power.

In a recent interview with TopMob, Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio, stars of the upcoming Daredevil: Born Again, discussed how the new season will reveal unexplored facets of their characters.

According to Charlie Cox, this version of Matt Murdock is deeply discouraged, exhausted, and questioning his own choices. He explained that while Daredevil is familiar with doubt, it usually centers around his religious beliefs, but this time it’s different.

In Season 2 of Daredevil: Born Again, Matt Murdock is heavily dependent on Karen Page due to his current situation. He frequently seeks her advice and trusts her judgment, essentially letting her make important decisions for him. Charlie Cox finds it enjoyable to portray a superhero with such doubt and vulnerability, and this allows audiences to finally see a strong and capable side of Karen Page.

Vincent D’Onofrio, who plays Kingpin, hinted that the final episodes of Season 2 will leave viewers questioning Kingpin’s whereabouts and suggest significant changes to his character. He explained that these episodes will have a major impact on Kingpin, setting the stage for his arc in Season 3.

New Sides of Daredevil & Kingpin in Born Again Season 2

Matt Murdock Is “Beaten Down, Really Disillusioned, Really Tied, and He’s Doubting His Decision-Making.”

  • TopMob: “You guys have played these characters for so long, you know, over 40 episodes of television. Can you guys tease for Season 2, and even further, what new sides of your characters’ fans will get to see?”

According to Matt, this version of Matt Murdock is deeply worn down, disillusioned, and exhausted. He’s questioning his own judgment more than ever before. While Matt is no stranger to doubt, it usually centers around his faith. This time, however, he’s truly uncertain about what he should do next.

It’s interesting to watch him depend so much on Karen Page – he’s constantly seeking her advice and letting her lead the way. It’s almost as if she’s thinking for him, and he’s just acting on her suggestions. He’s really handing over the responsibility for choices and decisions to her, which is a new side of this character. It’s fun to see a superhero with that much uncertainty and vulnerability, and it also gives us a chance to see Karen Page as a strong, capable person for the first time.

Vincent D’Onofrio, who plays Kingpin in Daredevil: Born Again, hinted that the season two finale will lead his character down a completely unexpected and perilous road.

As a big fan of the show, I’ve been hearing that the final episodes of Season 2 really shift things with Fisk. Apparently, they leave the audience questioning where he’s going and what he’ll do next – and the actor playing him, Vincent D’Onofrio, has hinted that Fisk won’t be the same character we’ve seen before. It sounds like those last two episodes are hugely impactful for him, and will set the stage for everything that happens in Season 3. I’m really excited to see how it all plays out!
