Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 Secretly Sets Up Another Marvel Return

Although the Marvel shows on Netflix concluded in 2019, the story isn’t over for Daredevil. Charlie Cox is reprising his role as Matt Murdock, not only appearing in Spider-Man: No Way Home, but now leading his own new TV series. Plus, Daredevil isn’t the only hero making the jump from Netflix to the main Marvel Cinematic Universe – Jon Bernthal is returning as the Punisher, with plans for appearances in Spider-Man: Brand New Day and a dedicated Disney+ special.

While the new season promises exciting developments, Born Again Season 2 will also bring back familiar faces. Krysten Ritter returns as Jessica Jones, the popular and resilient private investigator from the Marvel Netflix series. We’ll also see characters like Detective Brett Mahoney, played by Royce Johnson, who previously supported the good guys and will likely oppose Mayor Fisk. The premiere hints at yet another welcome return.

Is Rosario Dawson Returning in the Mainstream MCU?

Rosario Dawson’s character, Claire Temple, was a key connection between all the Marvel shows on Netflix. Working as a medic at Metro-General Hospital, she secretly provided medical care to New York City’s masked heroes – a role inspired by the comic book character known as the “Night Nurse.” The shows were known for developing characters gradually, and it took Claire a long time to fully embrace her role as a dedicated caregiver to these heroes. Unfortunately, Netflix cancelled the shows in 2019 before she could fully become the “Night Nurse” fans knew from the comics.

A quick, easily missed nod to the character Claire Temple appears in the premiere of Daredevil: Born Again. When Karen Page finds an injured Matt Murdock, she asks about getting stitches and suggests going to Metro General Hospital. This strongly implies Claire Temple is still helping the city’s masked heroes, probably as part of Daredevil’s team fighting against the Kingpin. Considering how often Daredevil gets hurt, it won’t be long before the show takes us back to Metro-General.

Metro-General Hospital plays a surprisingly significant role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It’s where Doctor Strange used to work, alongside Christine Palmer, who is also a character known as Night Nurse in the comics. The hospital was briefly mentioned in Avengers: Endgame when the Ancient One noted the Avengers arrived before Doctor Strange was there. However, the character Claire Temple is even more important, and many fans would be excited to see her become a regular part of the MCU.
