As a huge Marvel fan, I was so excited to see a leaked set photo from the upcoming Daredevil: Born Again season! It seems to pretty much confirm something we’ve all been hoping for: Luke Cage and Iron Fist are coming back to the MCU! It’s great to see these characters potentially rejoining the universe.
A photo taken on April 3, 2026, on a New York film set shows Krysten Ritter, reprising her role as Jessica Jones, walking with former Marvel Netflix stars Mike Colter (Luke Cage) and Finn Jones (Danny Rand).
Although Marvel Studios hasn’t confirmed anything yet, their activity on set makes it very likely that these characters will return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Luke Cage and Iron Fist first appeared in Marvel’s TV shows on Netflix, which ran from 2015 to 2019 and presented a realistic take on superheroes. Luke Cage, played by Colter, initially showed up in the ‘Jessica Jones’ series before getting his own show. In it, the indestructible hero became a figure of hope for Harlem, dealing with local crime while also exploring themes of power and what it means to be responsible.
I was really excited when Danny Rand, aka Iron Fist, came back to New York after everyone thought he was gone for good! It was cool to see him step back into his role, but his show took a really interesting turn. It wasn’t just about fighting; it delved into the ancient history and magic of K’un-Lun, and also mixed in some drama with his family’s company, Rand Enterprises. It felt like a much more mystical take on the character.
Luke Cage and Iron Fist later allied with Daredevil and Jessica Jones, forming The Defenders to defeat the centuries-old criminal group, the Hand.
After those shows ended, fans have continuously asked for the characters to reappear, especially since Courtney Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe. This desire increased when Rachael Taylor returned as Jessica Jones in the new season of Daredevil: Born Again.
Okay, so the latest photos from the set are really interesting. It looks like they’re not just bringing back a couple of characters – it seems like they’re planning a full-on team-up of Marvel’s more down-to-earth heroes, the ones who usually fight crime on the streets. It’s bigger than I expected!
As a huge fan, I’m so excited about the possibility of Luke Cage and Iron Fist coming back! If it happens, it would be amazing to see Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist all together on screen again – it’s been years since we’ve seen all four of the Defenders together, all the way back to 2017!
The photo surfaced while the third season of Daredevil: Born Again is being filmed in New York City. Production started in March 2026 and is expected to continue through the summer, with the show likely premiering on Disney+ in 2027.
