Okay, so I just got a look at the new Daredevil: Born Again footage, and let me tell you, the costume change is chef’s kiss. It’s a darker, more grounded look for Matt Murdock, perfectly fitting the vibe of him being hunted through the city by Fisk’s task force. They’ve gone with a shadowy, practical design, and thankfully, they kept the iconic double-D on the chest – a great nod to the comics. It really feels like a natural evolution for the character, especially given the circumstances he’s in. Honestly, it’s a perfect fit for this season.
The new suit for Daredevil takes inspiration from his “Shadowland” look, which he wore in the comics when he was temporarily corrupted by a demon. While everyone is noticing the logo – it’s the most faithful recreation of the comic book design we’ve seen since Charlie Cox became Daredevil in 2015 – a small change is going unnoticed. This new suit actually solves a long-standing problem with all of Daredevil’s previous costumes in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Daredevil’s New Costume Is Perfect for Born Again Season 2

The original Daredevil series on Netflix deliberately held off on giving Matt Murdock the classic red suit, instead starting with a practical all-black outfit and mask. While some fans were impatient, the darker design was much better for stealth and moving unseen. Bright red, even a dark shade, catches too much light. Now that Daredevil is once again a fugitive, hunted by Mayor Fisk’s people, he’s smartly reverted to a darker look – a far more effective choice than the red suit he briefly wore in She-Hulk: Attorney at Law.
It’s understandable why Daredevil doesn’t stay hidden in the shadows like some heroes. His brighter, bolder costume is designed to attract villains and keep them away from innocent people. Plus, unlike Spider-Man, Daredevil isn’t super agile, so he relies on Kevlar and body armor in his suit to protect him from bullets. The red color also helps hide injuries, which is a practical benefit.
Matt is now operating in the shadows, forced to be secretive after being exposed. His bright, colorful costume is gone, replaced with a textured design meant to help him blend into darkness and conceal himself. It’s ironic that a blind man now has the best costume for staying hidden. He’ll need every advantage he can get, especially with villains old and new, now that Wilson Fisk, as the mayor of New York, is a major threat.
