The show has unexpectedly become very popular, steadily gaining viewers with each new season. It’s now in its fourth season and has recently introduced a significant change.
The next episode of the show premieres March 8th at 9 pm Eastern and Pacific time on AMC and AMC+. It will bring together Kiowa Gordon and Chaske Spencer, who previously starred together in Twilight. Spencer joins the cast as Sonny, a charismatic but dangerous recruiter who tempts young Native American men, new to Los Angeles, into a life of crime.
In the popular Twilight Saga series, Gordon portrayed Embry Call, a werewolf and member of the Quileute tribe. Spencer played Sam Uley, the leader of the werewolf pack, which also included Jacob Black, played by Taylor Lautner. Both characters were part of the Quileute tribe.
Season 4 centers around the search for a missing Navajo girl, taking detectives Leaphorn, Chee, and Manuelito to Los Angeles. While investigating, Chee is forced to confront painful memories from his past, and Leaphorn has a chance to reconnect with Emma.
Dark Winds Has Been a Huge Hit With Critics
The popular Western series, with Game of Thrones author George R.R. Martin as an executive producer, has quickly become a hit. Viewers have given it strong ratings, with an overall approval score of 78%.
This series centers around three detectives with the Navajo Tribal Police as they investigate crimes on their reservation during the turbulent 1970s. The crimes they face are becoming more and more dangerous.
Based on the novels by Tony Hillerman, the series Dark Winds was developed for television by Graham Roland (known for his work on Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan, The Returned, Almost Human, and Fringe). John Wirth (Hell on Wheels, Hap and Leonard) is the showrunner.
Season 4 featured the return of Jessica Matten (known for Rez Ball, Tribal, and Burden of Truth) as Bernadette Manuelito, Deanna Allison (from Accused and Edge of America) as Emma Leaphorn, and A. Martinez (Longmire, Days of Our Lives) as Acting Chief Gordo Sena of the Scarborough Police Department.
The show’s new season introduces several new cast members: Spencer, Franka Potente (known for Run Lola Run and The Bourne Supremacy) as Irene Vaggan, Isabel DeRoy-Olson (Fancy Dance) as Billie Tsosie, Luke Barnett (The Crossing Over Express) as FBI Special Agent Toby Shaw, and Titus Welliver (Bosch, Bosch: Legacy, Ricky, Abraham’s Boys) as Dominic McNair. McNair is a dangerous crime boss who smuggles drugs and stolen luxury items in and out of Los Angeles.

Dark Winds returns with new episodes every Sunday on AMC until its Season 4 finale on Apr. 5.
