David Tennant, Danny Dyer and the cast of Rivals star across this week’s covers

Rivals is a classic British TV show, full of witty humor, suggestive jokes, and a fantastic 80s music selection – it has all the ingredients for a truly enjoyable experience.

I thought the first season had already used up all the playful suggestive humor on television. But now, Rivals is back – even more over-the-top and hilariously absurd than before!

I’m not sure how American viewers are reacting to this very British story about the competition to win local commercial TV licenses in the 1980s. However, Disney+ has clearly found a worldwide audience that’s enjoying it.

Jilly Cooper’s wonderfully dramatic characters have come to life on screen, creating one of the most hilarious and playfully scandalous shows since the classic Carry On films. Expect plenty of champagne, over-the-top fashion, juicy scandals, and enough outrageous behavior to give anyone a headache!

Despite the over-the-top flirting and scandalous affairs, Dominic Treadwell-Collins has managed to create something truly delightful. He’s taken what could have been silly and overdone and made it joyful, romantic, and funny, all while avoiding any bitterness or negativity.

Maybe that’s the key to why ‘Rivals’ is so good. When a lot of TV shows try to overwhelm viewers, this one just aims to be fun – and that’s actually quite a welcome change.

Okay, so I recently had the chance to chat with Shem Law, the current brand editor at TopMob. It’s a big role – he’s actually the twentieth person to hold it in over a century! Interestingly, he grew up without a TV, which he jokingly admits he’s more than made up for since then. He’s definitely a media enthusiast now, to say the least!
