The original cast members of Dawson’s Creek are coming together again, marking their first reunion since the show concluded in 2003, to offer support for their fellow star, James Van Der Beek, who was recently diagnosed with stage three colorectal cancer a year ago.
On September 22nd, next Monday, there’ll be a gathering at the Richard Rodgers Theatre in New York City where the actors will perform a live rehearsal of the 1998 pilot episode of the show.
At the gathering, you’ll find Van Der Beek, famous for his role as Dawson Leery, alongside Michelle Williams, who portrayed his romantic interest Jen Lindley. Also joining are Katie Holmes, Joshua Jackson, Mary Beth Peil, John Wesley Shipp, Mary-Margaret Humes, Nina Repeta, Kerr Smith, Meredith Monroe, and Busy Philipps, each having been a significant part of the show.
As a passionate film buff, I’d be excited to share that Smith, Monroe, and Phillips, who came aboard during the second season, will take on different roles from the initial episode of our series. It’s going to be fascinating to see how their talents breathe new life into these iconic characters!
Jason Moore, the director of three episodes of Dawson’s Creek, is set to oversee a special event that will be jointly organized with the charitable organization F Cancer.
Additionally, Moore will team up with Kevin Williamson (the show’s creator), Michelle Williams, Carl Ogawa, Thomas Kail, Maggie Brohn, and Greg Berlanti to jointly produce the event.
Williamson expressed his profound enthusiasm to reconnect with the Dawson’s Creek family, making it a particularly memorable event.
He went on to say, “Dawson’s Creek had a profound impact on my life. Initially, it was just a tale about a young man and his companions dealing with life’s obstacles. However, it grew into something far greater than I could have imagined. It fostered a devoted fanbase and left an indelible mark across the globe.
I feel truly privileged to be involved and to lend my support to our dear friend, James, as we journey together through life’s complexities.
Williams stated, “Growing up in Capeside created a bond that will endure forever. It was important for us to reunite around our friend James, letting him know he’s not alone. No matter where or when, we have always been here and will continue to be. I believe the fans of Dawson’s Creek share this sentiment as well.
From 1998 to 2003, the popular TV series Dawson’s Creek was broadcast on The WB, eventually earning a place as a cult favorite. Its unique portrayal of complex teen relationships and emotions drew in viewers, solidifying its status as a classic.
