Dax Shepard Addresses Cher’s Comments About Kristen Bell Marriage

Everyone wants Dax Shepard‘s take on this viral moment.

He was glad to address the situation. Just a week after Cher shared her opinion that Kristen Bell deserves someone better than the host of the Armchair Expert podcast, the podcaster playfully responded to the comments.

Dax explained to Entertainment Tonight on January 11th at the 2026 Golden Globes that they found it really funny, and that’s why they shared it.

He jokingly said that Kristen – who was a guest on the January 5th episode of the Armchair Expert podcast – had listened to him, and then he received divorce papers the following week.

The 51-year-old joked that he hoped he wouldn’t run into his date at the 83rd annual awards show. He was up for Best Podcast, and Kristen, 45, was nominated for Best Actress in a Musical/Comedy TV Series for her work on Nobody Wants This.

Dax joked, “I’m really hoping I don’t run into her.” He asked if she was present and playfully requested they be kept separate, saying, “Things are still really fresh between us.”

Even though Cher initially seemed surprised by Dax Shepard and Kristen Bell’s 12-year marriage, she shared on their podcast that she’s genuinely glad to see her friend doing well.

Cher shared on her Armchair Expert podcast that she trusts the person in question, adding, “You must be seeing something I’m not.”

The 79-year-old, who has two sons – 56-year-old Chaz Bono with her former husband Sonny Bono, and 49-year-old Elijah Allman with her ex-husband Gregg Allman – also said, “And you seem like a good dad.”

Dax and Kristen, parents to daughters Lincoln, 12, and Delta, 11, praised their ex-partner’s positive attitude. Dax explained that he fully supports her success, saying, “I’m not intimidated by her accomplishments—I celebrate them. The more she shines, the happier I am.”

And the Veronica Mars alum couldn’t agree more.

She said to Cher, “There’s so much more to him than meets the eye. He might take a while to win you over, but you’ll end up falling for him. Honestly, he’s almost too perfect for me.”

Kristen and Dax believe the key to their lasting marriage is built on trust and open communication.

Despite any potential attractions at work, I’m confident Dax is devoted to our family,” the Good Place actress shared with TopMob News last February. “I fully trust he’ll always come home, and I know how much he loves our kids. He really works hard to be a wonderful husband and father.

She continued, saying, “We’re all just human, so it’s natural to feel insecure sometimes. Maybe I’ll get worried about who he’s spending time with, and he’ll be open to talking about it – asking me what’s bothering me and really listening. We’re good at communicating openly with each other.”
