Hollywood is mourning a shocking loss.
Actor Patrick Muldoon, who appeared in shows like Days of Our Lives and Melrose Place, passed away unexpectedly on April 19th, according to his manager. He was 57 years old.
It’s with a heavy heart that I share the news of actor Muldoon’s passing. His sister, Shana Muldoon-Zappa, told me he sadly passed away from a heart attack while showering at home. It was his girlfriend, Miriam Rothbart, who found him. My thoughts are with his family and loved ones during this difficult time.
While attending the University of Southern California and playing football, Muldoon started his acting career with a brief appearance in two episodes of the sitcom Who’s the Boss?
After graduation, he gained more recognition for appearing in three episodes of Saved by the Bell as Jeffrey Hunter, Kelly Kapowski’s ex-boyfriend (played by Tiffani Thiessen).
In 1992, Patrick Muldoon began playing the character of Austin Reed on the soap opera Days of Our Lives, a role he continued until 1995. He later returned to the show more than a decade later, reprising the part from 2011 to 2012.
The actor also worked on Melrose Place, portraying villain Richard Hart from 1995 to 1996.
He’s known for several roles, including Zander Baraclow in the 1997 film Starship Troopers. He’s also appeared in many movies on Lifetime and Hallmark, and recently worked with Bruce Willis in the 2021 film Deadlock. His newest project, a thriller called Dirty Hands about a failed drug deal, will be released later this year.

Originally from Los Angeles, he also produced several films, including The Tribes of Palos Verdes, Arkansas, Marlowe, The Card Counter, The Dreadful, and Riff Raff. He’s currently producing Kockroach, which stars Chris Hemsworth, Taron Egerton, Zazie Beetz, and Alec Baldwin.
Just two days before he passed away, Muldoon shared his excitement about the film on Instagram, announcing that filming had begun in Australia and expressing how thrilled he was to be working on the project, titled “KOCKROACH.”
Besides his partner and sister, Muldoon is survived by his parents, Deanna and Patrick Muldoon, Sr., as well as his brother-in-law, Ahmet Zappa, and nieces and nephew, Halo and Arrow Zappa.

Friends affectionately called him “Bobo,” and described Muldoon to Deadline as someone who freely shared his poetry, wit, and unique personality.
Those who knew him said Muldoon was a warm and loving person who cared deeply for both animals and people. He was known for his incredible hugs and had a special ability to make everyone feel comfortable and understood. He lived life to the fullest, with a vibrant and energetic personality.
