Fans can now pre-order a particularly intimidating Flash figure, and it looks amazing.
Amazing Yamaguchi, known for their highly detailed action figures, has just revealed their newest creation: Black Flash, a popular character from DC Comics. This figure is incredibly flexible, allowing for a wide range of poses, and many fans will likely agree it’s the most imposing version of the Speed Force’s powerful enforcer ever made.
The New Black Flash Figure from Amazing Yamaguchi is Scary Cool
You can now pre-order the Revoltech Amazing Yamaguchi Black Flash action figure for about $70 (¥11,000). This roughly six-inch tall figure comes with lots of interchangeable parts and effects pieces, including extra heads, hands, a chest piece, swappable ears with lightning, over a dozen lightning effects, and a display stand. Plus, if you pre-order, you’ll receive a bonus masked head!
Who Is Black Flash in DC Comics?
The Black Flash first appeared in The Flash #138 in 1998, created by Mark Millar, Grant Morrison, and Ron Wagner. It’s not a Speedster itself, but a supernatural being that acts as a kind of enforcer for the Speed Force. Its main role is to appear when a Speedster is about to die, and guide them – often frighteningly – to the afterlife.
As a long-time fan, it’s been amazing to see how much the Black Flash has become a part of the DC Universe! It’s not just been one character either. We’ve seen both Barry Allen and Bart Allen become the Black Flash in the comics, which was wild! And then there was Eobard Thawne during Blackest Night – he called himself the Black Flash, but honestly, it didn’t feel quite the same as the original’s power. It’s cool how the character has connected to so many heroes and villains over the years.
The most famous version of this character started as Hunter Zolomon, a serial killer from another world. He developed his own connection to the Speed Force – the source of the Flash’s powers – and decided to carry on the Reverse-Flash’s legacy of tormenting the original Flash.
So, this villain, Zolomon, totally pretended to be the original Flash – Jay Garrick – to get close to Team Flash. His plan was to destroy everything, the whole multiverse! But it backfired spectacularly. He got torn apart by these crazy time creatures called Time Wraiths, and it didn’t just kill him, it changed him. He became this decaying, mindless version of the Flash, known as Black Flash, and basically became a puppet of the Speed Force itself. It was pretty messed up, honestly.
