DC Comics Debuts New Villain As Absolute Joker’s Secret Weapon

The Joker in the Absolute Universe is plotting something major against Batman, and it involves a villain fans have been waiting to see. This version of the Joker, as seen in Absolute Batman, isn’t just a criminal; he’s a wealthy and secretive billionaire. Recently, Absolute Batman #15 revealed that Jack Grimm V, the Joker’s public persona, is hiding dangerous secrets.

You know, as a huge Batman fan, I’ve been following this Joker storyline closely. It’s classic – the Joker always has a plan, but Batman keeps messing it up! So, after Bruce took down Black Mask, this guy Grimm – working with the Joker – immediately sent Bane after him. The idea was to break Batman, use him as some kind of test subject for this crazy project called Ark M. But, predictably, Batman beat Bane in a really public showdown. Still, even though Batman’s been a real problem for Grimm and the Joker, they’re not finished yet. They’ve got a lot of power and some serious allies, and it looks like one of them is about to make Batman’s life incredibly difficult.

DC Reveals Absolute Deathstroke as Joker’s New Right Hand

The next step in the Joker’s scheme unfolds in Absolute Batman: Ark M Special #1, created by Scott Snyder, Frank Tieri, Josh Hixson, Roman Stevens, and Clayton Cowles. This issue mainly focuses on the backstory of Arkham Asylum within the Absolute Universe. It reveals that the Joker spent a short time living with Amadeus Arkham as a child. However, the Joker later caused a violent escape and massacre at the asylum, and years afterward, told Amadeus about their shared history. Amadeus then burned down the asylum with himself inside, while Grimm observed the event.

The special ends with a scene of Grimm observing Batman in the present day, sharing video of the hero with one of the Joker’s agents. This agent isn’t intimidated by Batman and claims they can defeat him. While Joker is confident, Grimm wants Batman to face a few more monsters created by Arkham M first. As Joker releases these new creatures, Absolute Joker tells his agent—who is revealed to be Deathstroke—to be patient, promising him a chance to fight Batman in the future.

Absolute Deathstroke is Crucial to Joker’s Plan for Handling Batman

It’s not a huge shock to see Deathstroke fully appear now. He actually showed up briefly in a picture in Absolute Batman #9 alongside a young Alfred Pennyworth, who called him a ‘brother in arms’. This is his first proper introduction, and it’s bad news for Alfred and Batman – Deathstroke is now competing with the Joker. Given how similar he is to the Deathstroke we know from the main DC Universe, Batman is likely facing a very difficult time.

Deathstroke only appears briefly at the very end of the story, and he looks quite different from the usual villain – except for his white hair and eye patch. However, his legs seem to have cybernetic enhancements. Since most of Joker’s followers have been technologically altered, it’s likely this version of Deathstroke – dubbed ‘Absolute Deathstroke’ – is heavily augmented with technology, making him a serious danger to Batman, a fact Slade himself seems sure of.

Whether he’s improved his skills or not, Slade Wilson, also known as Deathstroke, is always a formidable opponent. But in the Absolute Universe, he’s even more of a threat. This world is drastically different from the main DC Universe; Darkseid has fundamentally altered its very structure, as proven by the Absolute Joker’s findings. The universe naturally favors villains, giving them a significant edge over heroes. For someone like Deathstroke, even a small advantage can be decisive. While Absolute Batman has had some successes, things are about to become much more challenging.

The current strategy seems to be wearing Batman down using the Arkham monsters, then sending Deathstroke in for the final blow – a fitting choice, considering his alias. While Batman has successfully countered the Joker’s schemes so far, facing a skilled strategist like Deathstroke is a different challenge than dealing with villains like Black Mask or Mr. Freeze. Batman’s fight with Bane showed he can overcome powerful enemies, but he’ll really be tested in the days ahead. Whoever is pulling the strings – ‘Absolute Joker’ – wants Batman gone, and ‘Absolute Deathstroke’ might be the perfect way to achieve that.
