Subsequently, James Gunn took charge and brought about the start of a new DC Universe with the animated series Creature Commandos, which is part of the first installment titled “Gods and Monsters” by Gunn. Since then, Gunn has reintroduced Superman on the big screen this summer and is now introducing Peacemaker into the DCU with its second season.

In an interview with ComicBook, Gunn expressed a desire to employ strategies similar to those used in Star Wars, specifically referring to going back to Peacemaker’s first season. However, he lamented that due to financial constraints, he cannot make significant changes like George Lucas did (using the phrase “Lucas the st out of this”), as doing so would be too costly. Instead, Gunn prefers to allocate any additional funds towards enhancing visual effects in the upcoming Supergirl movie set for release next year.
The second season of “Peacemaker” debuted on HBO Max this week, offering a fresh take with an alternate universe setting and a revamped appearance for John Cena’s crude superhero character within the DC Universe. Some viewers speculate that Peacemaker’s presence in “Superman” might suggest the show takes place before the movie, causing further complications for the planned Justice Gang retcon.
