In the grand scheme of DC’s Absolute Universe, the villains are set for significant developments akin to the reboots experienced by iconic heroes such as Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman. The successful launches of titles like Absolute Batman, Absolute Superman, and Absolute Wonder Woman have marked their first anniversary, and now, DC is preparing a one-shot featuring the villains that could have far-reaching consequences for the broader Absolute Universe. The intriguing question on everyone’s mind is whether we are about to encounter the Absolute Legion of Doom.
On October 1st, the debut of “Absolute Evil” #1 is set to be released, penned by Al Ewing with artwork and a principal cover by Giuseppe Camuncoli and Stefano Nesi. The primary cover showcases seven sinister villains standing together in unity, their hands intertwined, while tattered images of Superman, Wonder Woman, Batman, Martian Manhunter, Flash, Hawkman, and others lay beneath them. In “Absolute Evil”, Ra’s al Ghul, Veronica Cale, Hector Hammond, Elenore Thawne, and the enigmatic Joker no longer work against each other. Instead, they are aligned, united, and pose a significant threat. However, an undercover act of treachery within their ranks could potentially undo all they’ve accomplished.
Enthusiasts can eagerly anticipate the debut of no less than two significant characters from the Absolute series in the second year, each capable of altering the trajectory of the Absolute Cosmos. As of yet, their identities remain undisclosed.
This enigmatic band of miscreants bears striking resemblance to the notorious Legion of Doom, a formidable faction hailing from the primary DC Universe, frequently at odds with the Justice League. Characters like Lex Luthor, Joker, Black Manta, Cheetah, and others have graced their ranks. The Legion of Doom served as adversaries in the revamp of Justice League during DC Rebirth, and played a significant role in Dark Crisis on Infinite Earths. It’s possible that DC will introduce the mysterious Absolute Legion of Doom in Absolute Evil, or they might continue to go nameless.
On October 29th, there’s another exciting release: the Absolute Batman 2025 Annual #1. This one is penned and illustrated by Daniel Warren Johnson, James Harren, and Meredith McClaren. Wondering how Bruce Wayne got his iconic Batmobile? Curious about the initial encounters between Black Mask’s gang and the Dark Knight? Dive into the raw, chaotic origins of Absolute Batman in the pages of DC’s Absolute Batman 2025 Annual.
DC announces that the next installment of “Absolute Martian Manhunter,” which is part of the Absolute collection, will be released in December 2025 with Issue #7, marking the start of a new six-issue storyline. The series took a break after its highly praised initial chapter.
