DC Is Wasting Their Best Team, But There’s An Easy Way To Fix Them

As a DC fan, I’ve always loved the incredible teams they’ve created. Everyone knows the Justice League – they’re the ultimate heroes with all the famous faces. And the Justice Society of America, the original team from the Golden Age, paved the way for everything that came after, fighting bravely in World War II. It’s also awesome to see what heroes look like way in the future with the Legion of Super-Heroes! But honestly, there’s one team I think is truly the best, and it feels like DC isn‘t using them to their full potential. They deserve so much more recognition!

The Titans are the adult versions of the Teen Titans – the original sidekicks who’ve grown up and become more skilled. It’s amazing to see them develop in the comics, going from inexperienced kids to one of the most powerful hero teams around. DC Comics has often positioned them to become the top team, but then repeatedly undermines their progress. The Titans have huge potential, and DC could really make them shine if they just addressed a few key issues.

Trapped in the Past

To understand why the Titans are struggling and what DC is doing wrong with them, it’s important to remember what made them so good in the first place. The Titans weren’t just a team of superheroes; they were a family. They consistently showed genuine care and respect for each other, both professionally and personally, which strengthened their teamwork and made them special. Their strongest stories, like “The Judas Contract” and “The Terror of Trigon,” focused on these deep connections between team members, giving them lasting emotional impact. These stories balanced thrilling action with compelling character interactions.

That’s where the core issue lies: these classic stories, while beloved, have become repetitive and prevent the Titans from evolving. Despite being positioned as the next Justice League, they keep revisiting the same old plot points. Every few years, we see the same conflicts – Deathstroke seeking revenge, revelations about Raven’s past, and similar rehashed storylines – preventing the team from moving forward.

It’s frustrating to see DC keep falling back on the past, even when they try something new like *Titans Academy*. They’ll introduce a fresh idea, but then immediately pull out a character like Red X just to appeal to nostalgia. As a fan, it feels like they’re obsessed with bringing back old favorites instead of letting the Titans actually grow. We’re *told* they’re becoming more important and taking on bigger roles, but their stories always end up feeling… the same. It’s like they can’t move forward.

The Titans Need to Move Forward

The Titans are a team with great potential, but they need a fresh creative vision to truly shine. While the current roster is strong, the stories have become repetitive. The recent *Dark Crisis* event positioned them as a reliable, go-to team, and now they need stories that prove they deserve that role. Instead of limiting them to appearances during major crossovers, let’s see them tackle significant challenges and interact more with the broader DC Universe. Give them compelling storylines featuring powerful enemies – either established villains like Mongul and Despero, or a new threat built up over time – and let them take center stage. The Titans just need the opportunity to grow and fulfill their potential instead of being sidelined.

The Titans have a lot of promise, but DC Comics isn’t really doing anything innovative with the team. They could easily find their own unique place and connect with a new generation of fans, but instead, they’ve been stuck in the shadow of the Justice League and haven’t moved beyond their established history.
