The popular DC Comics event is back with a new installment, finally giving fans the exciting fights they’ve been anticipating. After a month-long break in December – filled with special issues and side stories as part of DC’s All Fight Month – the competition has moved to the Elite Eight. This issue features four intense, head-to-head battles, delivering the hard-hitting action fans have been demanding.

In DC K.O., Earth’s heroes are battling in a high-stakes tournament to gather the cosmic energy needed to defeat Darkseid and save the DC Universe. The competition hasn’t been straightforward, as villains have interfered, raising the tension even further. Everyone has a personal reason for fighting, and as the tournament nears its conclusion, competitors are pushing themselves to the limit. DC K.O. #3 is a thrilling issue packed with unexpected developments and a shocking finale that perfectly captures the intensity of the struggle.

DC K.O. #3 is the Comic We’ve Been Waiting to See

Fans have been eagerly anticipating an issue packed with the action promised months ago, and DC K.O. #3 delivers! From Scott Snyder, Joshua Williamson, Javi Fernandez, Xermanico, Alejandro Sanchez, and Hassan Otsmane-Elhaou, this issue sees the remaining eight fighters move into the third round. This round introduces a new twist: tag-team battles! Fighters can now team up with allies from any time period or location, and the pairings are set for an all-out brawl.

The team-ups in this issue are a mix of familiar pairings, like Guy Gardner and Hal Jordan, and surprising ones, such as Lex Luthor with Supergirl. But the Joker really throws everyone for a loop when he chooses Mr. Mxyzptlk as his partner—who briefly appears as the Batman Who Laughs. Overall, this issue delivers exactly what fans wanted: intense, two-on-two battles between heroes and villains with a lot of imaginative action. The creative team deserves credit for coming up with really inventive ways for these characters to fight.

The story is packed with exciting highlights, like Lex Luthor using a special type of kryptonite on Supergirl and Superman temporarily gaining Shazam’s powers to defeat two Green Lanterns. The competition moves quickly, narrowing the field from eight to four finalists: Joker, Lex Luthor, Wonder Woman, and Superman. However, the next round promises to be the toughest yet, with the remaining contenders facing off against formidable opponents including Booster Gold possessed by Darkseid, and powerful versions of Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman.

DC K.O. #3 isn’t a Perfect Chapter, but It’s One of the Strongest Yet

I’ve been really digging DC K.O., and this latest installment was a total thrill ride! I loved the tag-team battles – it was a cool way to shake things up and make the fights more engaging. Honestly, though, I was a little disappointed with some of the team-ups. Joker’s pick of Mr. Mxyzptlk was brilliant, but I was hoping for more unexpected pairings from the others. That said, Lex choosing Supergirl totally made sense for his character, and I have to give him props for being so strategic.

Honestly, if you can look past one tiny thing, this is a really great installment. What I loved most was how it delved into Superman’s head – his decision to team up with Shazam wasn’t about being nice, it was a strategic move, and that made it way more interesting. Zack Snyder said he wanted to tell a real Superman story with DC K.O., and we’re finally seeing that. The more we see Clark and how this whole competition is affecting him, the more it resonates. And huge props to the art team – the battles look absolutely incredible, with a real sense of weight and depth.

It’s hard to believe we’re already past the halfway point of DC K.O.! This issue did everything it needed to: it delivered exciting and creative fight scenes, moved the story forward, and increased the tension for what’s coming next. While it might not win back readers who stopped following the series, it will definitely keep current fans engaged. This issue makes me think the creative team has some truly wild surprises planned for the rest of the series.
