DC K.O. Wonder Woman vs. Lobo Is Action-Packed but Leaves Potential on the Table (Review)

The DC K.O. series has delivered some great fights, and the latest issue, DC K.O. Wonder Woman vs. Lobo #1, is no exception. The battle between Wonder Woman and Lobo is exactly as wild and intense as you’d expect from a Lobo story, filled with chaotic and brutal action. While the fight itself is well-executed, some of the decisions made during it—particularly towards the end—felt jarring and pulled me out of the story. Ultimately, the right character won, but the way the victory was achieved didn’t live up to the fight’s potential, leaving me a little disappointed.

While a Wonder Woman versus Lobo story sounds exciting, this issue felt more like a Lobo story with Wonder Woman appearing in it, rather than a true team-up. This imbalance is noticeable from the start and continues throughout the entire issue. Even the ending focuses primarily on Lobo’s own struggles. Lobo fans will likely enjoy this, but readers hoping for a Wonder Woman-centered story might find the fight disappointing.

The story also struggles with power levels. Lobo is consistently strong and can’t be killed, but he often feels too powerful compared to everyone else. This has been an issue since his first fight with Wonder Woman, and it becomes even more noticeable when he easily defeats a large group of Amazons. It feels like the other heroes were deliberately weakened to make Lobo seem stronger, which makes it hard to really care about the conflict.

The fight isn’t perfect, but it has some really cool parts, like when Wonder Woman manages to steal Lobo’s vehicle. The beginning is particularly rough, with Lobo dominating, but Wonder Woman gets more strategic in the second half. I especially enjoyed the third round, which featured a series of unusual challenges, from simple shin-kicking to the more complex game of chess boxing.

While there are some good parts, this issue ultimately feels a bit disappointing. It’s perfectly okay, but doesn’t stand out as something essential, and it feels like it could have been much better.
