I’m so excited about the new Batman look! It’s part of this big project with a lot of our favorite DC heroes and villains. And get this – Harley Quinn and the Joker are teaming up again! Honestly, when you look back at all the Batman movies, the Joker and Harley have always been huge parts of the story. It’s amazing that two actors who’ve won Oscars have played the Joker – that really shows how iconic that character is!
Although Harley Quinn hasn’t been in a Batman film yet, Margot Robbie’s portrayal of the character became a fan favorite in the DC movie universe, even sharing the screen with Ben Affleck’s Batman. Now, an upcoming animated Batman movie in 2026 will explore Harley Quinn and the Joker’s stories alongside Batman, potentially leading to a live-action team-up later on.
DC Has Revealed What Batwheels Season 3’s Joker & Harley Quinn Look Like
Ethan Hawke initially turned down the chance to play Batman in the movie Batman Forever and later wished he hadn’t. Now, he’s found a different way to be involved with the character – he’s been the voice of Batman for three seasons of the animated series Batwheels. Unlike other Batman projects, Batwheels centers around the vehicles used by the Bat-Family, though Batman and other heroes still have significant roles in the show.
The third season of Batwheels premiered on HBO Max on December 5, 2025. Following the release of the first four episodes, the show continued with more new episodes in 2026. One of these episodes featured a team-up between the Joker and Harley Quinn – despite their rocky relationship in live-action DC films – as they went up against a pair of heroes from the Bat-Family, all with a bright and colorful animation style.
In the sixth episode of Batwheels season 3, titled “Sidecar Chaos,” Batman and Batgirl team up to stop the Joker and Harley Quinn. The DC villains have fresh looks: Harley Quinn sports pink and blue ponytails, a golden choker, and a pink jacket, while the Joker has chalk-white skin, a red nose and ears, and bright green hair. Both villains are wearing similar police-style hats.
How Batwheels Season 3’s Joker & Harley Quinn Compare To Other Versions Of The DC Villains?
The Harley Quinn and Joker characters in Batwheels are most similar to those seen in the DC Extended Universe (DCEU) and the 1966 Batman series. The Batwheels version of Harley Quinn, who first appeared in Batman: The Animated Series, takes inspiration from Margot Robbie’s popular modern look from the 2016 film Suicide Squad, including her signature pink and blue ponytails.
The Joker in Batwheels has a brighter, more classic cartoon appearance, which is quite different from the more realistic looks of recent live-action Jokers played by Joaquin Phoenix and Barry Keoghan. This animated Joker is probably more similar in style to Cesar Romero’s portrayal. Because Batwheels is aimed at younger children, these colorful villain designs are a good fit for the show.
