DC Officially Unveils New Teen Titans Roster Amid James Gunn’s DCU Reboot

I’m really excited about the Teen Titans movie James Gunn is working on, but it seems like it’s on hold for now. A script is already written by Ana Nogueira, who did great work on Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, but we still don’t know who’s going to be in the team! All we’ve heard, and it’s still just a rumor, is that Damien Wayne’s Robin might be involved, which would be awesome in this new DC Universe James Gunn is building.

Although a movie version is on hold, DC Comics is still releasing Teen Titans comics and related series. Writer Tate Brombal recently started a new New Titans storyline, beginning with a team that playfully pokes fun at how predictable the series has become over the years. Hopefully, the upcoming Teen Titans film, led by James Gunn and Ana Nogueira, will break away from this pattern.

I’m excited about DC’s new Teen Titans book! It’s part of their Next Level initiative and brings together a team I already know and like: writer Kyle Higgins and artist Daniele Di Nicuolo, who previously collaborated on Power Rangers: Shattered Grid. The story centers around Red Hood taking the lead, assembling what they’re calling a “new generation” of heroes to track down powered teens who’ve gone missing. It sounds like a fresh take with a lot of potential!

Red Hood discovers a group of superpowered teenagers have gone missing. He teams up with a new wave of tech-savvy, incredibly gifted young heroes to rescue them and reveal a deception that’s tearing their society apart.

Kyle Higgins shared more details about his upcoming Teen Titans comic, describing it as a story about what it’s like to be a teenager in the DC Universe in 2026, and the difficulties of forming relationships and finding community in a troubled world. He also mentioned that Red Hood will play a significant role in the series, appearing frequently throughout the story.

Every Member Of the New Teen Titans

Red Hood (Jason Todd)

The new team of Titans will be led by Jason Todd, also known as Red Hood. He was last seen dealing with a fallout from a disagreement with Batman, stemming from his attempt to save the Joker – a move that understandably angered him, considering Joker’s history with him. This conflict occurred after the events of Jeph Loeb’s follow-up to the Hush storyline and led to the cancellation of his solo series.

Jason Todd’s past trauma in Teen Titans will likely make him a resentful and wounded leader, but also uniquely qualified to guide these young heroes through a world he knows is deeply flawed, having lived through its hardships himself.

Fairplay (Jeffrey Holt)

Jeffrey Holt, the long-lost son of Mister Terrific, was kidnapped and brainwashed by Granny Goodness, but was later rescued by the Flash (Wally West) and his father. Fairplay, as he’s known, hasn’t appeared often in comics, so little is known about him except that he shares his father’s genius-level intellect and uses cubes instead of the T-Spheres his father prefers.

His new costume is a huge step up from his previous one, which reminded everyone of his time with the New Gods and Granny Goodness. The high collar around his face adds a really stylish touch to the overall look.

Cheshire Cat (Lian Harper)

Lian Harper, the daughter of Arsenal and Cheshire, was believed to have died as a child. Instead, she grew up as an orphan on the streets of Gotham City. She later became a vigilante known as Cheshire Cat, working as Catwoman’s partner before eventually finding her way back to her family.

Though she lacks superpowers, she’s incredibly skilled, just like her parents. She’s a master archer, following in her father’s footsteps, and a talented thief, having trained with Catwoman.

Flatline (Nika)

Flatline debuted at the League of Lazarus tournament with the same look she has today, and quickly captured Damien’s attention – both his heart and, quite literally, the organ itself, which she ripped from his chest (he recovered, thankfully!). She’s been a regular presence ever since, appearing throughout Robin’s adventures as he fights crime.

Flatline is unique on her team because she has superpowers. She can learn and keep the skills of people who die near her, making her an incredibly skilled fighter. That’s why she became Lord Death Man’s partner.

Unnamed Teen #1

One of two new characters introduced without a name, it’s currently unclear if he possesses any special powers. Given the team is searching for teens with abilities, it’s likely he’s connected to them and has powers of his own.

This teenage boy, with his blonde spiky hair, has a lightning bolt on his jacket, suggesting his special ability might involve electricity or incredible speed. He also wears two large wristbands, which could be used to help control or enhance his powers.

Unnamed Teen #2

The newest character and the other unnamed teen have intriguing designs. His clothes are particularly unusual – they look bulky and impractical for fighting. What really catches the eye is his shirt featuring a ‘slippery floor’ sign, and his gold-tinted sunglasses.

It seems like this new person is being considered for a key role, but with Fairplay already being a brilliant member of the team, it’s unclear what his purpose is.
