DC Comics has seen a surge in popularity over the past year with its “All-In” publishing strategy. The current storyline centers around the villain Darkseid, who has managed to capture both the Prime Earth and Absolute Earth. In a surprising move, Darkseid tricked the Justice League into destroying his physical form, transforming him into pure Omega energy that’s now woven into the universe itself. Recent clues in the comics *Superman* and *Justice League Unlimited*, further explored in *DC K.O.* #1, reveal that Darkseid has infused the Earth’s core with this Omega energy. The only way to defeat him is for a powerful and determined hero to master that energy in a challenging tournament.
As you’d expect, *DC K.O.* #1 includes some surprising turns, because Darkseid won’t let the heroes win easily. The *Justice League Unlimited* comics previously introduced the Quantum Quorum—a group featuring the Time Trapper, Gorilla Grodd, the World-Forger, and Booster Gold—but it turns out things aren’t what they seem. Either one of these members, or another member of the Justice League, is secretly Darkseid, manipulating everyone. There are two likely suspects: an obvious choice and a less predictable one.
SPOILERS FOR DC K.O. #1 AHEAD!
Darkseid May Have Hidden Himself in the Heroes No One Would Expect

The latest issue of *DC K.O.* #1 ends with a shocking reveal: Booster Gold appears to be under Darkseid’s control. This development has been foreshadowed since *DC All-In* #1, when Booster Gold bravely entered the rift created after Darkseid’s apparent defeat. He was instantly transported to a different universe and ambushed by a sinister version of the Legion of Superheroes. Readers wouldn’t see him again until the “Darkseid Legion” storyline in *Superman*.
The Time Trapper teamed up with Superman to combat Darkseid’s threat to the universe. He sent Superman and Superboy-Prime into the future to locate Booster Gold, who had been affected by Darkseid’s Omega energy and was crucial to the Time Trapper’s plan. After defeating Darkseid’s army, Superman brought Booster Gold back to the present, setting the stage for the events in *Justice League: The Omega Act* #1 and *DC K.O.* #1.
Based on the latest developments, it appears Darkseid has somehow swapped places with Booster Gold. Booster is now overwhelmed with Darkseid’s Omega energy, which happened after he traveled through the rift and was pursued by the Darkseid Legion. This is similar to what happened to Gorilla Grodd in a previous storyline. We know Booster has been fleeing Darkseid and his forces for years, which suggests he could have absorbed enough Omega energy to potentially reset the planet’s core – or, it’s possible this whole situation is a carefully planned trap by Darkseid.
In issue #11 of *Justice League Unlimited*, Power Girl led a team into the Earth’s core, where they were ambushed by Darkseid’s forces. They managed to get away, but afterward, Power Girl seemed to be taken over by an unknown force and began speaking with a font style identical to that of the Omega heart from *DC K.O.* #1. Considering this, along with her blonde hair – a trait shared by the figure in the final panel of that issue – many fans now think Booster Gold might be a distraction, and someone else is actually the key player.
Darkseid’s Almost Certainly Booster Gold… But He Might Be Tricking Everyone

From the start, *DC K.O.* appeared to be a simple tournament where heroes would compete for ultimate power and defeat Darkseid. But the first issue revealed that Darkseid was actually manipulating the entire conflict, likely using someone from the Quantum Quorum or the Justice League to guarantee his win. While Booster Gold seems like the most likely accomplice, Power Girl is also a suspect, as she previously showed signs of being influenced by Darkseid’s Omega energy in *Justice League Unlimited* #11.
While this event seems simple on the surface, writer Scott Snyder is known for surprising twists. That’s why many readers suspect the issue’s final reveal isn’t the complete story. The possibility that Power Girl is actually Darkseid – who has demonstrated the ability to be in multiple places – or something else entirely, is being considered. With DC K.O. just beginning, readers are left wondering what will happen next.
