I’m thrilled about the recent developments for the upcoming Wonder Woman movie, signaling a promising chapter for one of DC Comics’ most esteemed characters. As part of the illustrious Trinity, which includes Batman, Superman, and this remarkable Amazonian heroine, she has played a pivotal role in countless captivating DC tales. She stands tall as an indispensable member of the Justice League and has graced our screens with a blockbuster film. Despite the underperformance of ‘Wonder Woman 1984’, plans were in motion for a third installment, with Gal Gadot reprising her role and Patty Jenkins once again at the helm. However, James Gunn decided to put those plans on hold, but I’m eagerly awaiting what the future holds for this iconic superheroine!
James Gunn discarded all elements related to the original DC universe to begin fresh, which included rebooting iconic characters like Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman who were previously established in the Snyderverse. However, Gunn has been secretive about the status of Batman’s role, despite plans for Matt Reeves to direct The Batman Part II featuring Robert Pattinson, as well as a separate Batman for the new DC Universe with an unidentified actor. Since this was one of the earliest announced DC projects, some fans have speculated that Gunn may be planning to cast Pattinson as the DCU’s Batman; however, Gunn has clarified that this is not the case.
Wonder Woman Movie Gets Supergirl Writer

Despite some initial reservations, it’s become apparent that Wonder Woman is moving forward as a significant upcoming DC Universe project. Details about this project were only recently disclosed to the public, and progress seems promising. As reported by The Wrap, the yet-to-be-titled DCU Wonder Woman film is currently being penned by Ana Nogueira, who has been entrusted with writing not just one, but three different DC Universe movies. More notably, she’s also responsible for crafting the script for one of the franchise’s most vital characters, which underscores her growing relationship of trust and respect with director James Gunn.
I’m thrilled to share that I was part of the team behind “Supergirl,” a movie we wrapped up filming earlier this year. It’s set to hit theaters next summer, promising an exhilarating blend of intergalactic action and adventure. The charismatic Jason Momoa will be making his debut as Lobo in this film.
James Gunn, our visionary director, is meticulous about quality. He ensures that no movie goes into production unless it has a polished script. It’s all about quality over quantity for us, taking the time to perfect each project rather than rushing to meet mandates. This approach worked wonders for “Superman,” which received outstanding reviews and is projected to rake in over half a billion dollars at the box office. I can’t wait for you all to see it!
It’s clear that Nogueira being involved in three distinct DC films indicates her significant role at DC Studios. Currently, we don’t know the timeline for Wonder Woman’s appearance in the DCU, but given that Gunn is rumored to be preparing for a future Justice League movie, it seems probable that this is a high-priority project.
Who do you want to see as Wonder Woman? Let me know in the comments.
